A new poll shows republican challenger Bill Cassidy with a slight lead over democratic incumbent Mary Landrieu in Louisiana’s Senate race. The Rasmussen Survey polled 800 likely voters, 44-percent supported Cassidy, while 41-percent said they would vote for Landrieu. LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan says the numbers don’t look good for Landrieu
CUT 3 (11) “for her”
An email statement from the Cassidy campaign says the Baton Rouge Congressman’s message of common-sense conservative reform is resonating. But Hogan says the poll’s results speak more to the dissatisfaction of Landrieu
CUT 4 (10) “for Cassidy”
Nine percent of the respondents to the poll say they plan on voting for someone other than Landrieu and Cassidy. The survey did not mention tea party candidate Rob Maness, but Hogan says the poll is an indication he does not have much support

The lawsuit challenging the residency of Senator Mary Landrieu and whether or not she’s qualified to run for re-election in Louisiana was dismissed by a judge in Baton Rouge Friday. Judge Wilson Fields said you can’t make such a challenge unless a candidate has already been elected. ULM Political Science professor Joshua Stockley believes the book is closed on this matter…:
CUT 6 (05) “that is authorized”
The suit was filed by Covington Representative Paul Hollis who says he’ll revisit the issue if Landrieu wins. LSU law professor John Baker says the next test is fact driven and it deals with the “intent” of Landrieu…:
CUT 7 (11) “strong evidence”
Landrieu’s lawyers say their client IS a resident of Louisiana and if another lawsuit comes up again challenging that they will be ready to make that case. Hollis says Landrieu is not an inhabitant of this state and this is not an issue that should just go away…:

The Saints begin the 2014 season on Sunday against their biggest rival, the Atlanta Falcons. The Dirty Birds won only four games last season, but Coach Sean Payton says Atlanta’s offense is always tough to deal with, especially wide receiver Julio Jones, who is healthy this season after missing most of last year with a foot injury
CUT 9 (11) “to defend”
The Saints were 3-and-5 on the road last year and Payton says they had a chance to win more, but they let some late leads disappear. He says that’s a point of emphasis for his team, with their first two games in 2014 on the road
CUT 10 (09) “with that”
The Saints beat the Falcons twice last season. The Black and Gold defense sacked Atlanta Quarterback Matt Ryan eight times in the two losses to the Saints. New Orleans outside linebacker Junior Galette hopes they can duplicate that success
