Five major candidates for governor will participate tonight in a televised debate on Louisiana Public Broadcasting. The frontrunner, Republican Jeff Landry will not participate. Landry will attend a “meet and greet” in Lake Charles to raise campaign money.

The active burn ban order re-issued on August 25th which prohibits all private burning is being modified. The new modified order will allow parishes to opt out of the statewide burn ban. State Fire Marshal spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says even if your parish decides to opt out of the burn ban continue to keep safety first.
