According to New Orleans officials, the nearly 10 inches of rain that fell in the Crescent City on Saturday was way more than what the city’s 24 pump stations can handle. Executive Director of the Sewerage and Water Board Cedric Grant says they’ve estimated they should be spending $30 million a year on catch basin and subsurface drainage, but there’s not enough funding to make the necessary improvements.

Small business owners impacted by the 2016 floods are not completing the flood recovery survey as quickly as state officials had hoped. The school is giving each department a 3-percent merit pay raise pool and each department head will determine how the raises will dispersed. University President F. Authorities have identified a suspect in case of a woman who was allegedly kidnapped in Lafayette and later found in Baton Rouge. The Lafayette Police Department says Lawrence Michael Handley is wanted for second-degree kidnapping, attempted second-degree kidnapping, and violation of a protective order. The victim was later found safe in West Baton Rouge.

The Legislative Auditor has launched an investigation into spending for the BRAVE program after US Senator John Kennedy raised concerns the federal dollars were not going towards reducing crime and supporting police in Baton Rouge. Kennedy says it’s repulsive how East Baton Rouge Mayor President Sharon Weston Broome is allegedly spending the funds.

Parts of New Orleans saw widespread flooding over the weekend after downpours overwhelmed the city’s pumping stations, according to officials. They said some neighborhoods saw up to 10 inches of rain in just a few hours on Saturday, which is too much for the 24 pump stations to handle even though they were all operating.

A letter US Senator John Kennedy sent to East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has sparked an investigation by the legislative auditor’s office. The 17-year-old was one of 8 competitors to clear 18 feet, 8 and a quarter inches in the qualification round. Duplantis now has the opportunity to participate in the 12-man final tomorrow.

Former Chicago Bear Jay Cutler has decided to hold off on retiring for a bit as sources indicate the quarterback agreed to terms Sunday with the Dolphins who are looking for a Ryan Tannehill replacement. Cutler’s deal is reportedly worth $10 million dollars for one year.
