The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man shot his father in the chest by mistake when showing him a gun in Harvey. They say the 51-year-old man suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound, but further details regarding his condition are not known at this time.

More students are getting their education at home instead of traditional classrooms. Superintendent for University View Academy Lonnie Luce (Lou-see) says some families move a lot for work, so brick and mortar schools don’t work as well. He says others choose online learning to escape problems in school…:

About 9,000 more students studied at home in 2016 than in 2010.

Former LSU stand-out Jalen Collins, a cornerback for the Falcons, has been suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL’s policy on PEDs. Collins missed the first four games last season while under suspension for the same reason.
