Democratic New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is a rumored candidate.

State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving an off-duty Slidell Police Officer who may have been drunk when the crash occurred. They say 31-year-old John Cole was driving when he lost control of the vehicle and flipped into a ditch. His passenger, 31-year-old Daniel Hanlon of Slidell, was pronounced dead at the scene. Cole was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition. Impairment is suspected on part of the officer.

State Police say an off-duty Slidell Police officer may have been drunk when he got into a fatal crash Sunday morning. They say 31-year-old John Cole was driving when he missed a curve and flipped into a ditch. His passenger, 31-year-old Daniel Hanlon also of Slidell, was pronounced dead on the scene. Impairment is suspected on the part of the officer who is in serious condition at a New Orleans hospital.

Lawmakers in California recently approved a bill that would pump a lot more money into their film tax credit program, but Louisiana Entertainment doesn’t think that threatens Hollywood South. Executive Director Chris Stelly says the move DOES speak highly of what Louisiana has done over the last several years…:

One of the bigger upsets this past weekend in college football happened in Lafayette as Louisiana Tech trounced the Ragin Cajuns 48-20. The Bulldogs had 533 total yards and they were led by quarterback Cody Sokol, who threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns. Sokul says it was a great performance in a rivalry game

Governor Bobby Jindal is on the road today, visiting the all – important Presidential campaign state of New Hampshire. It is Jindal’s second trip to New Hampshire this year, as he is considering a run for the White House in 2016.

The lawsuit filed by Covington Representative Paul Hollis challenging the residency of incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu was tossed by a Baton Rouge judge yesterday. Hollis claimed Landrieu was not a resident of the state, making her ineligible to run for Senate. He believes, however, the issue will not just go away…

Madison Parish Sheriff’s Deputies say they’ve made an arrest yesterday in connection in the shooting death of a Tallulah man Thursday night. Rashard Neil is charged with second degree murder for the alleged killing of LaPatrick Mitchell, who was shot several times at a car wash in Tallulah. Neil’s bond was set at one million dollars.
