East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore will provide more details today on last July’s ambush on police officers in Baton Rouge. Moore has called a 10 AM news conference in which more details will be learned about Gavin Eugene Long, the gunman who ended up killing three cops and injuring three others. The state Department of Health says they’ve confirmed the presence of Naegleria fowleri (Nay-Ah Glearia, Fowl-ER-ree), the so-called brain-eating amoeba, in Ouachita Parish’s North Monroe Water System and Terrebonne Parish’s Schriever Water System. The tap water is safe for residents to drink, but the Department urges residents to avoid getting water in their noses.

Today a Louisiana legend is being laid to rest, as funeral services for Johnny Huntsman begin at 2 p.m. in Oak Grove. Louisiana ranks ninth in the country for structurally deficient rural bridges, according to the transportation research group TRIP. DOTD Secretary Shawn Wilson says this is why they have to spend money repairing bridges, but there is no new revenue for new bridges…:
