It took a jury just an hour to return a guilty verdict against Former Lafourche Parish Art Teacher, 64-year-old Ralph Cheramie. He faces a combined total of over one hundred years in prison for sexually abusing a student while he was a teacher at a middle school in 2009. The victim reported the crime to school officials at the time but little action was taken. Years later she reported directly to law enforcement. The testimony of another of Cheramie’s victim’s was reportedly crucial in showing his pattern and method of grooming young students.
Police have arrested 34-year-old Foreign National Amanvir (uh man ver) Singh in the shooting death of 36-year-old long-haul truck driver, Gurpreet Singh Judge. The shooting occurred alongside Interstate 20 in Caddo Parish last month and Wednesday night, Singh was arrested in Flowood, Miss where he lives. Sgt. The incident was originally believed to be a road rage incident. It’s now known that the two knew of each other.
As another hot summer approaches and routines are changing with kids getting out of school. Louisiana Highway Safety Commission spokesperson Greg Fisher is reminding parents and caregivers that there have been several cases of parents forgetting they had a small child in the backseat.
