The funeral of the New Orleans Police officer fatally shot last week while bringing a prisoner to Orleans Parish Prison has been set. According to the family of Officer Daryle Holloway, the Mass will begin Saturday, at 11 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church and he’ll be buried at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Police allege 33-year-old Travis Boys shot and killed Officer Holloway inside the police unit.

Thibodaux Representative Dee Richard says he’s gotten legislation signed by the Governor which would give state lawmakers approval control over state consulting contracts. The measure was vetoed by Governor Jindal last year. Richard expects up to one-third of state contracts to be subject to review…:

The Shreveport Police Department says a one year old child died after a large item of furniture fell on top of her. Corporal Marcus Hines says the mom was home at the time but she was sleeping when it happened and she’s completely devastated..:

Hines says they believe the toddler was playing with two other siblings in the room when the dresser tipped over and fell, pinning the child beneath. There are no charges filed at this time.
