Raiders Quarterback Derek Carr will reportedly be in New Orleans today to visit with the Saints. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Las Vegas has given New Orleans permission to meet with the 31-year-old signal caller. The Raiders are reportedly interested in acquiring a third round pick for Carr and the Saints would have make some moves in order to get Carr’s contract to fit under the salary cap.

Brandon Ingram had 30 points and eight assists as the Pelicans won their third straight last night, 116 to 107 over the Atlanta Hawks at the Smoothie King Center. Coach Willie Green says B-I is starting to find his rhythm after missing two months with a toe injury…

Authorities in northeast Louisiana are searching for 18-year-old Isszvian Webb who officials say shot at three different Monroe police officers with an AR-15-style rifle on Sunday afternoon after his vehicle was pulled over. Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan says they notified area law enforcement to approach Webb with extreme caution…

Police have arrested a man in connection with the burglary of a dozen squirrel monkeys last month from a Lafayette Parish zoo. Broussard PD Chief Vance Olivier says they’ve arrested 61-year-old Joseph Randell of Opelousas.

Despite an arrest, the 12 monkeys were not recovered.

On January 29th Broussard Police responded to a report of a burglary at Zoosiana in which several squirrel monkeys were taken from their habitat. Olivier limited his comments because it’s an ongoing investigation and says there could be more arrests.

A day after the Zoosiana burglary two emperor tamarin monkeys were stolen from a Dallas Zoo.   24-year-old Davion Irvin was arrested last week in connection with that burglary. Olivier says they have not ruled out that the two could be connected.

As for a motive in the Zoosiana burglary Olivier says it appears to be monetary value.

Crime Stoppers of North Delta will pay up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of 18-year-old Isszvian Webb who is considered extremely dangerous. Monroe Police Chief Vic Zordan says Webb is wanted for three counts of attempted first-degree murder after a shooting at three officers Sunday multiple times with an AR-15-style rifle.

Zordan says Webb has evaded authorities for about a year after escaping from Green Oaks Juvenile Detention Center and the mugshot they have of Zordan is over a year old.

Zordan says they are asking for the public’s help to locate Webb and they are on high alert and have notified law enforcement in the area to approach Webb with extreme caution.

A Louisiana free speech advocacy group is concerned about Attorney General Jeff Landry’s efforts to curb what kids can access at public libraries. Landry unveiled his office’s Protecting Innocence Report; containing information and laying out guidelines for libraries to assure kids cannot access adult materials. Lynette Mejia, with Louisiana Citizens Against Censorship, says it is primarily up to parents to monitor what their kids read and see…:

Mejia (pronounced “meh-HEE-uh”) says most all libraries have tiered lending systems in place to prevent minors from viewing borrowing adult literature, and have adult materials out of their reach. She says Landry is creating “a solution in search of a problem”…:

Turkey Creek state Senator Heather Cloud has filed a bill that would require libraries to assure children cannot see or borrow adult materials. Mejia says that is censorship and not necessary, but Landry says no one intends to censor anything…:

A Leesville man is in jail, after a local mom caught him sexually molesting her 7-year-old daughter. 35-year-old Thomas McCartney was arrested in Harris Country, Texas and will be brought back to Vernon parish to face justice. McCartney is also a convicted sex offender, with arrests from 2006 and 2010.

The Pelicans return to action tonight as they host the Hawks. The Pels have won their last two after losing ten straight behind 51 points over the last two games from sophomore guard Trey Murphy. New Orleans sits just one game above .500 in the midst of a tight race in the Western Conference to avoid the play-in tournament while Atlanta is even at 27-27 in 8th in the East. Starting Forward Brandon Ingram and Center Jonas Valanciunas are set to return tonight after missing Sunday’s matchup against the Kings. Tip-off in the Smoothie King Center is at 6:30.

While Nets All-star Guard Kyrie Irving makes his way to Dallas, a new young star has emerged in Brooklyn. Former LSU guard Cam Thomas scored 47 points in last night’s loss to the Clippers making him the youngest player in NBA history to score over 40 points in back-to-back games. This is nothing new for Thomas who led the SEC in points per game in his one season at LSU. Thomas will look to continue this hot streak as he steps into an expanded role in Irving’s absence. Thomas and the Nets will return to the hardwood tonight against the Suns.

 

There’s a difference in opinion on how to address the state’s speckled trout population which is at its lowest recorded level. The Senate and House Natural Resources Committee rejected a proposal to reduce the daily catch limit and one senator suggests the state should rebuild habitat instead. LDWF Assistant Secretary of Fisheries Patrick Banks understands their position”…

UL-Lafayette’s Jordan Brown has been named Sun-Belt player of the week for the third time this season. Brown averaged 21 points and 13 and a half rebounds per game last week as he led the Ragin’ Cajuns to two conference wins over Texas State and Marshall. The wins extend the Cajuns’ conference win streak to 10 as ULL and Southern Miss are tied for first place in the Sun-Belt at 10-2. The Cajuns and Golden Eagles will battle for first Thursday in Hattiesburg.

Northwestern State guard DeMarcus Sharp also received conference player of the week honors in the Southland conference. Sharp averaged 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, and three steals over two games last week on a 63% shooting percentage. He was a perfect six for six from beyond the arc in wins at Houston Christian and Lamar. Sharp earns the player of the week honors for the third time this season marking the fifth time by a Demon this year. Northwestern State returns to action Thursday at Texas A&M-Commerce

Police in Monroe offer a reward for information that leads to the arrest of 18-year-old Isszvian (ih-SAHV-ian) Webb. Webb is accused of opening fire at law enforcement officers with a semi-automatic rifle on February 5th. When caught, he’ll face three counts of attempted murder. A Florida woman, armed with a blowtorch and a repurposed graffiti’ed school bus, led authorities in St. Tammany Parish on a chase during rush hour that ended in downtown Covington when she crashed on a school campus. Suzanna Carboni says 37-year-old Natalie Jarvis was involved in a domestic dispute a month ago, in which her boyfriend was taken into custody and a child removed from the bus, where the three were living as campers…:

A weird story out of St. Tammany Parish this morning, as a Florida woman, armed with a blowtorch, led police on a high speed chase in a graffiti’ed school bus before crashing it on a parochial school campus. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Sgt. Suzanne Carboni says it all started at 6 AM when they received a call from a Mandeville gas station…:
