The state health department reported 4,814 new cases and 34 new deaths from the coronavirus on Friday. L-D-H says 2,538 of the COVID cases were backlogged.

Early voting is underway for the December fifth runoff. We saw long lines during early voting for the November election, but based on the first couple of days of this early voting period, the lines are shorter. Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin still encourages all registered voters to cast a ballot…

Pfizer is seeking emergency approval from the FDA to begin distributing its COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. John Vanchiere at LSU Health Shreveport is a principal investigator on the Pfizer Vaccine clinical trial, which based on their studies has shown to be 95-percent effective. He says one in five young people have experienced minor flu-like symptoms, but that means your body is responding to the vaccine by building immune response.
