Sad news for LSU fans as Doctor David Baker, with the LSU Vet School, announced that Mike the Tiger only has one to two months to live, because his cancer, which was first diagnosed this past spring, has spread. Dr. Baker says he’s been questioned about Mike’s radiation treatment and he believes it did what it was supposed to do….:

LSU has already instructed Baker to begin the search for a young tiger to become Mike VII.

With top winds now reaching 120 miles an hour, Matthew has been pounding the southern Bahamas with heavy rain and storm surge. Forecasters said the storm could hit Florida, or come dangerously close, late tomorrow or early Friday and then scrape its way up the East Coast toward the Carolinas over the weekend. An update on the status of the LSU-Florida game will be announced after the latest NHC projected path is released.

Angry Jefferson Parish residents spoke out at a council meeting today urging Parish President Mike Yenni to resign. There are multiple reports claiming while Yenni was the mayor of Kenner, he was sending a 17-year-old boy sexually explicit texts, kissed the teen in a public bathroom then gave him designer underwear. A Grand Jury in Baton Rouge has formally charged the forer assistant principal accused in the death of Lyntell Washington and her unborn baby. 39-year-old Robert Marks was handed a true bill for second degree murder and second degree feticide. Washington was positively identified as the badly decomposed body found in a ditch in Rosedale, and autopsy reports show she died from a gunshot wound to the head.

It seems impossible but a new report shows that there are more opiod prescriptions in Louisiana than there are people. The Associated Press and the Center for Public Integrity found the state has a prescription-per-capita rate at 1.03 pain-killers written per resident in 2015. The clowns just won’t go away. Now it’s the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office that’s had to make an arrest on terrorizing charges related to the creepy masks. They say a 15-year-old boy is accused of sending a threatening message to a classmate on Instagram using an account for “willietheclown.” The juvenile was arrested on terrorizing charges.

Because of Hurricane Matthew, Friday night’s Tulane-Central Florida game has been moved to November 5th. It worked out well, because both teams have an open date that weekend.

ULM is back home this Saturday to host Idaho after playing three straight on the road. Last week, the Warhawks lost to auburn 58-7. Coach Matt Viator says for them to have success this Saturday, they’ll need to tackle better…

LSU’s live mascot veterinarian announces Mike VI’s cancer has spread throughout his body, and they are only giving him one to two months to live. Dr David Baker says Mike has tumors in his legs, neck, and lungs and they are now blocking his sinus and tear ducts…:

He says when they perceive his condition has further declined, he will transition to his night house in essentially what is hospice care.

As far as the LSU game goes for this Saturday against the Gators, Florida officials say they have not changed the status of the 11am kickoff in Gainesville but they continue to monitor approaching Hurricane Matthew. They say another update will be given this afternoon after 4pm.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests a woman accused of trying to kill her ex-boyfriend. They say 49-year-old Lisa Snowten allegedly broke into her ex’s house and attacked him before pointing a gun at him and shooting it — but it didn’t discharge. Cops say Snowten then went to the victim’s current girlfriend’s place of employment where she was apprehended and arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery.

There are more opioid prescriptions in Louisiana than there are residents. That’s according to research by the Associated Press and the Center for Public Integrity. Medical Director with the state Office of Public Health, Dr. David Holcombe, says it’s a problem in the Deep South, as Louisiana is one of 8 states with a high rate of prescriptions per resident. He says part of the problem is that it’s easier for doctors to write a prescription…

The LSU vet school says Mike the Tiger’s cancer is getting worse and officials are holding a press conference at this hour to discuss the next steps of his treatment. His caretakers found a tumor on his face earlier this year and a CT scan this week discovered that the tumor is spreading.

And we are still waiting to hear if there will be any changes with this Saturday’s LSU game at Florida, because of Hurricane Matthew.

Alexandria is mourning the death of Ned Randolph, who was the city’s mayor from 1986 to 2006. Current mayor, Jacque Roy, says Randolph will be missed, because he always wanted what’s best for the Cenla Region…

LSU officials are holding a news conference this morning to update the public on Mike the Tiger’s condition. They said the cancer Mike VI has been battling has spread and that the tumor in his face is growing again. The news conference will provide information on Mike’s prognosis.

Congressman Charles Boustany is taking legal action against the author of “Murder in the Bayou” for making claims that the US Senate candidate was involved with prostitutes who were murdered in Jefferson Davis parish. Boustany’s attorney Jimmy Faircloth says he doesn’t believe it’s a coincidence the book was published shortly after Boustany announced his candidacy for Senate…:

There are lots of folks in the Greater Baton Rouge area who are upset that the popular cult following gas station Buc-Cee’s has decided not to open on a 15 acre site in the Capitol City. Reports indicate the developer was informed last week the Texas chain had decided to pull out saying they just couldn’t get things lined up in Louisiana.

Hurricane Matthew is roaring toward the Bahamas on its way to southern Florida. The National Hurricane Center says, “The Florida Peninsula and the Florida Keys should monitor the progress of Matthew.”

The lawyer for Congressman Charles Boustany says his client is taking legal action against the author of a book that claims the US Senate candidate was involved with prostitutes in Jefferson Davis Parish. Attorney Jimmy Faircloth says no one was able to confirm these allegations before they were published in the novel by Ethan Brown:

The legal action was filed just over a month before the Nov. 8 primary in the U.S. Senate race.

The law that would ban strippers from exotic dancing if they are under 21 has been temporarily blocked by a judge in a lawsuit filed by three women affected. Hearings have not yet been set in the case.

Florida school officials say they are keeping an eye on Hurricane Matthew as it continues too drift northward towards Florida and the US east coast, but Tuesday said the status of the Saturday morning LSU game has thus far not changed. Meanwhile Tulane says a decision on the UCF road game will be made this afternoon.

Governor John Bel Edwards on Tuesday signed agreements with Cuba in the Caribbean island which points towards a deeper trade relationship as the situation between it and the US moves toward normalcy. State leaders say this sets the stage for Louisiana’s major ports to have a primary role when trade restrictions with Cuba are lifted.
