It’s a pivotal SEC West matchup tonight as the 18th ranked LSU Tigers visit the Auburn Tigers. The Bayou Bengals are looking to improve to 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference, while Auburn is trying to avoid an eighth straight home loss to Power 5 teams. Expect a low scoring, physical game. Auburn leads in SEC in rushing, while LSU has only scored 20 or more points twice at Auburn’s home stadium since 1994.

Louisiana Tech begins play in Conference USA when they visit Middle Tennessee. The Bulldogs easily beat the Blue Raiders last year, 45-16. Middle Tennessee has the top offense in the league so far this year, but their defense is not that good, they gave up 47 points to Vanderbilt earlier this year.

UL Lafayette and Tulane meet in New Orleans. The Green Wave rank 11th nationally in rushing, while Cajuns running back Elijah McGuire has rushed for 408 yards. Kick-off is at 7 PM.

 
Northwestern state and Southeastern Louisiana look for their first win tonight when the two teams meet in Hammond. These two teams will kick it off at 6PM and the game can be seen on C-S-T. Nicholls is at South Albama, while McNeese visits U-I-W. The Cowboys are coming off their first conference loss in more than a year.

In the SWAc, Southern is at Albama A-and-M, while Grambling hosts Alcorn State. Grambling has won the last two games in this series by a total of eight points.

In high school football last night….Haynesville beat Arcadia 40-12, while John Curtis defeated Brother Martin 26-9, Southern Lab blanked Ascension Catholic 50-0, Riverside knocked off Plaquemine 34-20 and West Feliciana was a winner over U-High 35-10.

The Saints square off with the Falcons on Monday night. Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan has the highest passing rating in the NFL. Atlanta’s middle linebacker is former LSU Tiger Deion Jones.

Congressman Garret Graves doesn’t think the disaster aid package will be enough to help flood victims. He says when you look at the tens of thousands of people that need assistance to get back in their homes, $500 million doesn’t go anywhere.

An activist group in New Orleans says they will remove the statue of Andrew Jackson from Jackson Square on Saturday. Malcom Suber with Take Em Down NOLA says they feel they are within their rights because the city council voted to remove confederate statues in New Orleans.

City officials say they support peaceful protest, but not vandalizing public property.

Hunters for the Hungry is hosting thier annual Clean Out Your Freezer Day on Sunday. HFH Executive Director Jimmy Anthony says this is a chance for hunters to get their freezers ready for the upcoming hunting season, and give to those in need.

He says they aren’t accepting any meat that’s over a year old.

The Advisory Council on Student Behavior has made surprising discoveries about student discipline in Louisiana, including the found that over a thousand kindergartners were suspended during the last school year. Chairwoman of the council, Jennifer Coco, says they want to find better ways to discipline students than kicking them out of class.

After donating thousands of dollars to flood damaged schools in Louisiana, Taylor Swift is helping even more students get back in the classroom. Livingston Parish School System officials say the pop megastar is donating $50-thousand to help with the rebuilding process. Swift has already made similar donations in Ascension parish and Central.

The money is part of a short-term budget fix and is earmarked as disaster assistance for several states. Graves says this money would be spread across 16 different major disasters.

Hunters for the Hungry is asking people to donate last year’s meat before stocking up this year during their annual “Clean Out Your Freezer Day.” HFH Executive Director Jimmy Anthony says the Baton Rouge Food Bank typically stores the meat, but there isn’t room for it this year after the flooding. He says a New Orleans Food Bank will be collecting the food instead, and they will also be collecting canned goods.

Graves says he’s been trying to collect as many flood stories as possible so that he can get the message out to Congress about how dire the situation is in Louisiana.

A Lake Charles man is wanted by police for breaking into a dorm and exposing his genitals to three women in downtown Baton Rouge. Authorities say 47-year-old Scotty Thompson knocked on the door of a home and had a brief conversation with a woman before showing his genitals to her then running off. Thompson then went into another apartment and began talking to a second women and flashed her and continued to expose himself to a third woman sleeping in the same home.

The Advisory Council on Student Behavior finds over one-thousand kindergartners were suspended during the last school year. New Orleans attorney and chairwoman of the council, Jennifer Coco, says the primary reasons students are getting suspended is being disrespectful or disobedient. But she doesn’t think that kicking a child out of school will teach them to be more respectful.

The council found that nearly 8-thousand students between Pre-K and third grade received out of school suspensions during the 2015-16 school year.

A New Orleans activist group is planning a protest tomorrow in Jackson Square when they say they will take down the statue of Andrew Jackson. Malcom Suber is a member of Take Em Down NOLA, a group that seeks to remove confederate monuments from the city. He says they want to remove the statue of Jackson and rename the area Freedom Square.

Suber says the protest will begin at 1pm, and they expect hundreds of people to come. City officials say they support peaceful protests, but vandalism of public property is a crime.  But he says they see this as an issue of civil rights.

Suber says they feel they are within their rights because the city council voted to remove confederate statues in New Orleans. He says their position has always been to remove any monuments that represent white supremacy.

Hunters for the Hungry is hosting their annual “Clean out your Freezer Day” to benefit food banks throughout Louisiana. On Sunday, September 25th from 1 to 4 p.m., hunters with leftover meat are encouraged to donate before they stock up again during hunting season. H-F-H Executive Director Jimmy Anthony says the program started 25 years ago when a group of hunters thought it was a shame to waste all of last year’s frozen game.

State education officials revoked a license for an early learning center in St. Helena Parish Friday, terminating the center’s public funding. According to the state Department of Education, the termination comes after complaints that employees at Blooming Faces Daycare in Greensburg took children, including infants, on a “walking excursion” on a busy highway with no sidewalk.

Authorities said a missing Greensburg teenager thought to be in danger has been found and is safe. The missing child advisory has been cancelled.

The public is being asked to help find a missing teenager that authorities think may be in danger. Louisiana State Police issued a missing child advisory. Investigators said they think 16-year-old Angel Mason of Greensburg is with a 35 to 40-year-old man, and they have reason to believe she is in danger. Troopers said they believe she is riding in a white 2003 Pontiac Montana minivan. They are asking folks to be on the lookout.
