The aid package for flood relief in Louisiana is tied up in politics, and Congressman Garret Graves is frustrated that help is not coming fast enough to flood victims. Graves says he’s been trying to collect as many flood stories as possible so that he can get the message out to Congress about how dire the situation is in Louisiana.

Graves doesn’t think the $500 million in the aid package will be enough.

A New Orleans activist group says they will remove the statue of Andre Jackson from Jackson Square tomorrow. City officials say although they support peaceful protest, vandalism of public property is a crime. But Malcom Suber with Take Em Down Nola says they see this as a matter of civil rights.

Suber says they expect hundreds of people to attend the protest.

The Advisory Council on Student Behavior was shocked to find that thousands of students in pre-k through third grade were suspended last year. Council chairwoman Jennifer Coco says the 24-member council meets three times a year and they will present their annual report to the legislature and BESE.

Coco says they will discuss discipline strategies that keep students in the classroom.

This Sunday is Clean Out Your Freezer day, an annual event hosted by Hunters for the Hungry. Hunters are encouraged to donate their leftover meat before they stock up again during hunting season. HFH Executive Director Jimmy Anthony says the event began 25 years ago.
