The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office says the actual owner of the truck Daigle was driving was found dead in his Moss Bluff home.

There’s one less storm to worry about, as Hurricane Danny has been declared a “remnant” by the National Hurricane Center. Now, their eyes are on a disturbance off the coast of Africa, and they report conditions are favorable for strengthening. An Air Force reconnaissance plane will get a closer look tomorrow afternoon.

A Golden Meadow man has been arrested in connection with the rape of a teen-aged girl. Dylan Bergeron is charged with sexual battery-the third suspect in the case. The LaFourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Taylor Fontenot and 28-year-old Davery Gaspard were initially charged with third degree rape of a teenager.

The LaFourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says they’ve arrested another 18-year-old man in connection with the rape of a teenage girl — the third suspect in the case. Dylan Bergeron of Golden Meadow is charged with sexual battery. Spokesman Brennan Matherne says they were alerted by the girl’s parents on August 9th that their daughter had gone missing for several hours. He says deputies located the teen a short time later…:

Matherne says Fontenot is also 18 and Gaspard is 28 years old. They are each charged with third degree rape of a teenager. He says Bergeron later admitted he committed sexual battery on the victim.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man is under arrest charged with vehicular homicide after running over a pedestrian in New Iberia. Investigators believe 37-year-old Quincy Mallery was drunk when his SUV crossed the center line and struck a male victim walking near the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The AP is reporting the Legislative Auditor’s Office says higher education in Louisiana is owed more than $15 million dollars from the state racing commission. They say under state law the Board of Regents should have gotten more than 1/3 of the license fee wagers at off-track betting facilities between July 1996 to April 2015. The report shows the racing commission does not concur saying there is no mechanism in place to distribute the money.

After growing into a category three hurricane last week, Danny is now just an area of disturbed weather. The National Hurricane center has issued its final advisory regarding the system which is moving towards islands in the Atlantic then the Caribbean.

The Dow fell about 1,000 points at the opening bell today which is the largest single day point decline in the index’s history. Edmonson says Vincent was assisting Daigle who had driven off the road and that’s when Daigle fired at the trooper with a sawed-off shotgun. Daigle will be charged with first-degree murder of a police officer.

The National Hurricane Center says it has issued its final advisory regarding Danny. They say the system has now become a trough of low pressure about 45 miles west-southwest of Guadeloupe. Forecasters will watch to see if the system moves into a more favorable area for development, but most models do not anticipate any reformation.

The National Hurricane Center says Danny, which became a Category 3 storm over the weekend, continues to weaken and is now a tropical depression. The Air Force hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 35 miles per hour with higher gusts. They say further weakening is forecast as the center of Danny moves across the southern Leeward islands before moving into the northeastern Caribbean Sea later today.

The Louisiana governor’s race is two months from today but so far we haven’t seen much action from the candidates on the campaign trail. Most see Republican David Vitter as the front runner in this race followed by Democrat John Bel Edwards.
