The AP is reporting the Legislative Auditor’s Office says higher education in Louisiana is owed more than $15 million dollars from the state racing commission. They say under state law the Board of Regents should have gotten more than 1/3 of the license fee wagers at off-track betting facilities between July 1996 to April 2015. The report shows the racing commission does not concur saying there is no mechanism in place to distribute the money.

After growing into a category three hurricane last week, Danny is now just an area of disturbed weather. The National Hurricane center has issued its final advisory regarding the system which is moving towards islands in the Atlantic then the Caribbean.

The Dow fell about 1,000 points at the opening bell today which is the largest single day point decline in the index’s history. It has since partially recovered and LSU Economist Jim Richardson says it may take a while for the market to get back to where it was.
