According to a new Glascock poll, Former Governor Edwin Edwards would make the runoff in the 6th Congressional District race — but he wouldn’t win in December. Pollster Darrell Glascock says the poll shows the Republicans in the runoff as Dan Claitor, Paul Dietzel, Garret Graves, and Lenar Whitney…:

A Lafayette police officer and a suspect are in a hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred last night as the officer was searching an apartment looking for a person who was involved in a shooting the night before. The police officer is in stable condition, the suspect was taken into custody in Acadia Parish.

A Lafayette police officer was shot last night while searching for a suspect inside an apartment. The officer is in stable condition. The man who allegedly shot the officer is also in the hospital. Police were searching the apartment looking for a person who was involved in a shooting the night before.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs put together another impressive performance last night in a 42 to 21 win at North Texas. Cody Sokol threw for 243 yards and five touchdowns . Two of the TD passes went to Paul Turner. Kenneth Dixon rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown. Tech’s defense didn’t give up a touchdown until the third quarter.

The Saints defense is looking to rebound from a poor performance against Atlanta when they visit the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. Safety Jairus Byrd says they’ve spent this week working on fundamentals….

The Lions are 2-and-0, while the Green Wave is 0-and-2.

Hayden is currently in jail facing rape and molestation charges in East Baton Rouge and Livingston Parishes. Edwards garnered 32-percent of the vote in The Glascock Group poll, which would seem to guarantee him a runoff spot. However, the former governor has trouble breaking 45-percent of the vote in any hypothetical runoff. Glascock says when it comes to runoff elections, traditionally half of voters don’t return to the polls. He says that could play in the favor of Edwards…

Richmond says Congress can support the President’s effort by providing resources and weaponry to the Iraqi military and Syrian rebels who are fighting the Islamic State militants…

Detective John Cole, the Slidell officer who was involved in a suspected drunk driving fatal accident Sunday, died from his injuries Wednesday afternoon. Trooper Greg Marchand says Cole flipped his Jeep in the crash and his passenger, Daniel Hanlon, died on the scene. Marchand says impairment on the part of Cole is suspected. They are still awaiting the toxicology report.

Republican US Senate candidate Bill Cassidy says he will now debate at least two times against Democratic incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu. The Cassidy campaign says Landrieu is pushing three other debates, which Cassidy has declined to participate, because they are highly scripted and don’t require voter interaction. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says Cassidy feels like he’s in good shape…

The Shreveport Police Department has identified the woman who was found dead in her home Wednesday afternoon. Cpl. Breck Scott says 53-year-old Angela Godley was discovered by a friend in South Shreve Island around 3:15pm and called the cops…

LSU football Coach Les Miles expects Tigers wide receiver Travin Dural to play Saturday night against ULM. Dural was involved in a minor car wreck following last Saturday’s game. The Breaux Bridge native needed stitches on his forehead, which caused a problem with putting his helmet on. But Miles says those issues have been resolved.

Saints wide receiver Kenny Stills was limited at practice for a second day in a row, because of a quad injury. But linebacker Curtis Lofton and cornerback Keenan Lewis participated fully today, after they were limited yesterday. Also, former Saints cornerback Jabari Greer announced his retirement. Greer was a member of the Saints Super Bowl team and played 10 years in the league.

USA Basketball has advanced to the gold medal game of the FIBA Championships in Spain. The United States defeated Lithuania 96 to 68. After a slow start, Pelicans star Anthony Davis had eight points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.

Tonight Louisiana Tech will battle North Texas in their Conference USA opener. The Mean Green beat the Bulldogs 28 to 13 last season and held running back Kenneth Dixon to 25 yards on 12 carries. Tech head coach Skip Holtz….
