The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office says they’ve arrested a 21-year-old Jennings man on several charges for allegedly breaking in to a family member’s home and assaulting her in front of her two young kids. Spokesman Chris Ivey says Sebastion Hanks allegedly kicked in the door of the victim and began beating her up. He says Hanks was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish jail…

One of the suspects in the killing and dismemberment of Bourbon Street dancer Jaren Lockhart has pleaded not guilty to second degree murder and other charges. 30-year-old Margaret Sanchez entered her plea at the Jefferson Parish Courthouse in Gretna this morning.

A Montegut man was killed after being ejected from his vehicle in a single vehicle accident in Bourg over the weekend. 19-year-old Austin Neil was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers inside the vehicle received minor injuries. Authorities say none in the vehicle were wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation. This is the fourth fatal crash in the Houma-Thibodaux area in the last week.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a release that ALL virtual ads on the field will not be allowed during game telecasts saying some of the products and messages aren’t consistent with league standards. Jack Walker’s mother owns the company and says this would have been the third year they’ve run the same ad with Cox during Saints games…

Tensas Parish officials say a 13-year-old girl, the daughter of First United Methodist Church West Monroe’s pastor, was killed Sunday during a church trip to Lake Bruin. They say Sarah Grace Tellifero was shocked by the ladder of a boat while trying to get out of the lake. Another girl, 17-year-old Christina Elizarov, was also shocked and she’s said to be hospitalized in stable condition. The tragedy is under investigation.

The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a strange crash involving a train and a car that happened this morning. Authorities says the car was trying to cross the tracks when it was hit by the train, then the three occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot. Police say they later returned and will be issued multiple citations. There were no injuries reported in the accident.

A state law requiring abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at a local hospital goes into effect next Monday, but a lawsuit has been filed in federal court challenging the law. Center for Reproductive Rights attorney, Julie Rickelman says one of their arguments against the law is that the state didn’t give abortion doctors enough time to obtain admitting privileges. But Louisiana Right to Life Executive Director Ben Clapper disagrees and says they’ve had enough time to get the privileges…

Now that all hats are in the ring, election season is officially underway. The US Senate race is the biggest but many other races are shaping up to be interesting too. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says the waters are a little cloudy when it comes to the 6th Congressional District race. Most pundits believe Edwin Edwards is a shoe-in for a December runoff. Pinsonat says beyond that, this race is really a toss up…:

He says the 5th District race will also be interesting and is pretty much wide open.

The NFL has decided that they will no longer allow virtual on-field advertisements during game telecasts and it could have been sparked by concern over the Cajun spice Slap Ya Mama. Apparently the company got an email saying the NFL is dealing with domestic violence issues and that Slap Ya Mama sends the wrong message. All ads were pulled as the league cited some products weren’t consistent with league standards.

Louisiana State Police say a man from Clinton died after the SUV he was driving went off a highway and slammed into trees last night. They say 50-year-old Harry Williams drove off the road for unknown reasons on LA 63 and went through a ditch and hit several trees. He was not wearing a seat-belt at the time and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.

The law, which would require doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals, is set to take effect a week from today. Officials in Tensas Parish say a 13-year-old girl, who is the daughter of First United Methodist Church West Monroe’s pastor, was killed Sunday during a church trip to Lake Bruin. They say Sarah Grace Tellifero was swimming with some other girls when she was shocked by the ladder of a boat when trying to get out of the lake. A malfunction in the lift mechanism on the pontoon boat reportedly resulted in an electric charge to the ladder.
