A pro choice organization files a lawsuit to prevent an anti-abortion law from going into effect. The law, which would require doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals, is set to take effect a week from today. Center for Reproductive Rights attorney for the center, Julie Rikelman, says one of their arguments against the law is that the state didn’t give abortion doctors enough time to obtain the privileges…:

Officials in Tensas Parish say a 13-year-old girl, who is the daughter of First United Methodist Church West Monroe’s pastor, was killed Sunday during a church trip to Lake Bruin. They say Sarah Grace Tellifero was swimming with some other girls when she was shocked by the ladder of a boat when trying to get out of the lake. A malfunction in the lift mechanism on the pontoon boat reportedly resulted in an electric charge to the ladder.

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will air tonight on NBC and there are five Louisiana-made series and miniseries that receives nominations. Louisiana Entertainment Executive Director Chris Stelly says True Detective, Bonnie & Clyde, American Horror Story and Treme all had great story lines and Louisiana provided a perfect backdrop. He says of course with Top Chef New Orleans it’s all about our famous food but all these shows have that one thing in common…:

About 100 Baton Rouge National Guardsmen returned from a year-long deployment in Afghanistan over the weekend. There were many touching reunions that took place at the Baton Rouge Metro airport as friends and family welcomed back the 927th Engineer Company.
