A Marrerro woman has been arrested on charges related to child trafficking for sexual purposes, and other serious sex crimes. Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell says the woman is 38 year-old Candice Caulfield, and with all of the charges against her, she faces a combined total of more than 200 years in prison.

The state Attorney General’s office says a Marrero woman is booked on charges related to child sex trafficking. 38-year-old Candice Caulfield was arrested for trafficking of children for sexual purposes and enticing persons into prostitution. Spokesman David Ferris says the AG’s office busted the suspect with the Internet Crimes Against Children’s Taskforce…:

Caulfield faces more than 200 years in prison.

Governor Bobby Jindal is suing the Obama Administration today acussing it of illegally using federal dollars to force states into Common Core. The suit claims the US Department of Education used a $4.3 billion dollar grant program to encourage states to adopt the education standards which is a violates federal law prohibiting national control of education policy.

The Lafayette Police Department says a 56-year-old man died after he was run over by a dump truck that was traveling in reverse. They say Douglas Perroncel of Lafayette walked behind the truck and was hit by the bumper before going down. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

Today Governor Bobby Jindal announces he’s filed a suit in federal court arguing President Barack Obama violated the constitution by forcing states to adopt Common Core standards and assessments. A Baton Rouge teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy is now facing additional charges for allegations of a second inappropriate relationship with a now former student. Deputies say 41-year-old Ashley Dowden is charged with prohibited conduct between educator and student for allegedly being involved with an 18-year-old who she formerly taught at Riverdale Christian Academy. The suspect was first arrested last week for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old.

During his career, 12 seasons long, Salmons has averaged 9.4 points, 3 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Salmons is 6’6 and has appeared in 874 games with 429 starts first with Philadelphia then Sacramento, some time in Chicago, Milwaukee and most recently Toronto.

The US Marshal in East Baton Rouge Parish arrested the founder of Red Jacket Firearms — again. This time William Hayden, of the reality show Sons of Guns, is facing a charge of aggravated rape of a 12-year-old. Hayden was arrested for molestation of a juvenile earlier this month and TMZ reported the suspect said the accusations were coming from a bitter ex-girlfriend. The matter is under investigation.

Senior Associate Editor Sandy Block says their rankings were based on rates for income, sales and gas taxes. She says our gas tax is well below average at 20 cents a gallon. Block says as a result, Louisiana is a very tax friendly place for retirees…

The Houma Police Department is the latest law enforcement agency in Louisiana that will use body cameras. Chief Todd Duplantis says the Terrebonne Parish Council has purchased 84 cameras that will be equipped to an officers’ uniform. He says it should be a great benefit to the department.

This morning, New Orleans Saints Quartberback Drew Brees tweeted the announcement of the newest member of their household, as he and his wife Brittany welcomed a brand new baby girl. They have not announced the name as of yet, but they did say mom and daughter are doing great. He did a tweet a picture of the little girl and the proud papa. By the way, Drew Brees was at practice today.
