Today Governor Bobby Jindal announces he’s filed a suit in federal court arguing President Barack Obama violated the constitution by forcing states to adopt Common Core standards and assessments. Jindal maintains the US Department of Education used federal dollars to do this and the suit argues these actions violate limitations of the role of federal government in education policy.

A Baton Rouge teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy is now facing additional charges for allegations of a second inappropriate relationship with a now former student. Deputies say 41-year-old Ashley Dowden is charged with prohibited conduct between educator and student for allegedly being involved with an 18-year-old who she formerly taught at Riverdale Christian Academy. The suspect was first arrested last week for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old.

The 18-year-old Natchitoches Central High School student who was involved in an altercation with another student at school has died as a result of injuries he sustained.
