Kickoff to a sold-out Tiger Stadium will be at 6:30 p.m.

UL-Lafayette travels to Columbia, Missouri to face the number twenty-five Missouri Tigers on Saturday at noon central time.

Tulane will host Duke on Saturday at 7 p.m. Emotions are going to run high in Yulman Stadium as starting Blue Devil quarterback Darian Mensah returns to New Orleans for the first time since transferring from the Green Wave in the offseason.

Louisiana Tech opens up conference play in Ruston on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. where the Bulldogs will face New Mexico State. Head coach Sonny Cumbie has yet to name a starting quarterback.

Former Patriots starting quarterback Mac Jones is expected to get the start in New Orleans for the San Francisco 49ers with Brock Purdy injured. Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan says that although Jones is not very mobile, it will be important for the New Orleans pass rush to throw him off his timing and make him uncomfortable.

Southern football looks to bounce back on Saturday after being blown out at home against Alabama State last week. Southern travels to California to face the Fresno State Bulldogs at 9 p.m. central. Junior Cam’Ron McCoy will get the start for the Jags at quarterback.

After defeating Murray State in Georgia last week, Southeastern is back home Saturday to host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at 6 p.m.

The Grambling State Tigers host the Kentucky State Thorobreds Saturday at 6 p.m.

McNeese State will host Weber State at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Through the first two weeks of the season, the LSU defense has allowed only 17 total points and ranks 11th nationally in total defense. Junior linebacker Whit Weeks says that even though the Tigers have had a decent start, he knows they can be even better.

On Thursday night, Dunham quarterback Elijah Haven, who is ranked as the composite number one QB in the nation in the class of 2027, lifted the Tigers to a 63- 42 win over Live Oak. Haven completed 21-of-his-30 passes for a remarkable 402 yards and six touchdowns.  On the ground, Haven rushed for 133 yards on 10 rushes with two touchdowns. Haven’s eight touchdowns and total yards marked career highs for the highly touted junior quarterback.

Louisiana Tech will open up conference play against New Mexico State Saturday night at 6:30. Head coach Sonny Cumbie says he and the staff are still evaluating the quarterback room. Cumbie said the Bulldogs need more production at the position and believes this weekend will help them make a decision.

After a week one victory at Oak Grove, Calvary travels to Monroe for a test against Neville High School. Neville is ranked as number four in this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association 5A poll after defeating Evangel last week by a score of 33- 32. Neville is looking to get back-to-back wins over Calvary after the Tigers defeated the Cavaliers 42-38 last season.

Catholic High will host St. Thomas More tonight in a blockbuster matchup. The Bears are coming off a promising 32-23 win over Destrehan. The Cougars are coming off of a season-opening loss to Carencro High.

LSU quarterback Nussmeier was sacked seven times when he faced the Gators in Gainesville last season. The Tigers know that it needs to have a balanced offense in order to keep Florida’s defense on its heels. Nussmeier says that LSU’s run game allows the offense to do more.

Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler completed 27 of 46 passes for 214 yards against the Cardinals. After watching the film, Rattler says that he is working on improving many aspects of his game with San Francisco’s talented defense coming to New Orleans.

14-year NFL veteran Todd McClure is one of the 2026 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame inductees. McClure was an outstanding center in Atlanta, which earned him a place in the Falcons Ring of Honor. Doug Ireland, a Chairman of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, says before the Baton Rouge native became a great NFL player, he was also an outstanding athlete at Central High School.

CUT 27 (12): “LSU”

Saturday’s game between number 25 Missouri and Louisiana-Lafayette has a new kickoff time. The Ragin’ Cajuns were originally set to kick off at 3 p.m. Central time, but due to excessive heat in Columbia, Missouri, the game is being moved up to noon Central time.

Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders travel to Green Bay to face the Packers on Thursday Night football. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m.

LSU head coach Brian Kelly told the media that starting center Braelin Moore practiced with the team on Tuesday and that he will practice again on Wednesday. Moore is most likely going to be probable heading into the Florida game after injury his ankle versus Louisiana Tech.

Kelly also announced that Texas transfer defensive tackle Sydir Mitchell is no longer with the team after not meeting team standards. Mitchell did not log a snap in the first two games for the Tigers.

Florida coach Billy Napier has a record of 20-and-20 through his first 40 games with the Gators. He’s aware of the criticism he is getting for losing, but he says that it is important that he and his staff respond to adversity.

The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 induction class. The class will feature Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Sylvia Fowles, NFL stars Joe Horn, Todd McClure and Pat Williams, Major League Baseball All-Star Jonathan Lucroy and legendary basketball coaches John Brady, Mike McConathy and Dewain Strother. The induction will take place from June 25th to June 27th of next summer.

Grambling State is coming off of a 70 to nothing loss to the number one ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. Head coach Mickey Joseph said that even though the Tigers did not stay within reach, he is glad that they came  out of the game healthy.

Grambling returns home this week to hosts its first home game of the season on Saturday at 6 p.m. against the Kentucky State Thorobreds.

When starting center Braelin Moore was injured on the first play of the game versus Louisiana Tech, sophomore DJ Chester came into the game to replace him. Head coach Brian Kelly says the staff is comfortable with playing Chester if Moore cannot go this week.

The SEC has announced its conference schedule for the 2026 baseball season. LSU baseball will travel to Nashville to face Vanderbilt in the first week of SEC play before hosting Oklahoma in Baton Rouge. Other key opponents include Tennessee, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Georgia on the road. In addition to Oklahoma, LSU will host Kentucky, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and Florida. Former LSU head coach Paul Manieri will return to Baton Rouge for the first time since being the Gamecocks head coach on May 1st.

Saints tight end Juwan Johnson had the opportunity to tie the game in the final seconds against the Cardinals with a crucial drop in the endzone. Johnson says that even though New Orleans came up short, the team needs to prioritize its focus on the next game.

The Saints will take on the San Francisco 49ers in New Orleans on Sunday at noon. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is questionable with a toe and shoulder injury, and star tight end George Kittle was placed on the injured reserve after injuring his hamstring against Seattle.

Louisiana Tech head coach Sonny Cumbie announced that he has not named a starting quarterback for this week’s game versus New Mexico State. The Bulldogs played both quarterbacks, Trey Kukuk and Blake Baker against LSU.

LSU football begins SEC play this weekend as it hosts Florida on Saturday. The Tigers had an underwhelming performance in its 23 to 7 win against Louisiana Tech. Head coach Brian Kelly says the performance falls on multiple people.

Kelly announced positive news regarding the health of center Braelin Moore and tight end Trey’Dez Green. Moore is listed as day-to-day with an ankle injury and Green will be questionable with a sprained MCL.

CUT 16 (22): “the week.”

Saints starting safety Julian Blackmon seriously injured his labrum in the regular season opening loss versus the Arizona Cardinals. Blackmon is expected to miss significant time. Blackmon injured the same labrum with the Colts in 2024, which required surgery at the end of the season.

New Orleans right tackle Taliese (Tah-lee-ESS-ay) Fuaga went down in the third quarter versus the Cardinals with a knee injury.  Moore says he will be considered day-to-day

UL-Lafayette bounced back from an ugly two-point loss to Rice to beat McNeese 34 to 10. But the Cajuns threw for only 86 yards. Head coach Michael Desormeaux says the passing game will need to improve, especially as it travels to Columbia to face the No. 25 Missouri Tigers in a sold-out game.

LSU senior cornerback Mansoor Delane was a key contributor in the 17 to 10 win over Clemson. Delane admits that the win was a great start for the 2025 season, but the Tigers won’t be satisfied until it brings back some hardware home.

The Saints will be without two key starters for Sunday’s regular-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. Coach Kellen Moore said defensive end Chase Young and offensive guard Trevor Penning will be out. Moore also said that cornerback Alontae Taylor will play after battling a groin injury.

UL Lafayette will host McNeese State on Saturday at 7 p.m. in what will be former Catholic high standout Daniel Beale’s first true start at quarterback. The Cajuns will be without quarterback Walker Howard for 6 to 8 weeks after an oblique injury.

UL-Monroe will face number twenty-one ranked Alabama in Tuscaloosa at 6:45 p.m. Central. The Warhawks are looking to pull off the upset in T-Town just like it did in 2007 when it defeated the Crimson Tide 21 to 14 in Nick Saban’s first year coaching Alabama.

Grambling State faces the top-ranked team in the nation in Ohio State, Saturday at 2:30 p.m. central, which will be the first time the Tigers play an AP number one team.

Tulane travels to Mobile to take on South Alabama Saturday at 6 p.m. Central.  The Green Wave will play both transfer quarterbacks, Jake Retzlaff and Brenden Sullivan.

Number 22-ranked Nicholls hosts West Georgia Saturday at 6 p.m. Central in what the Colonels hope to be a shake back game after blowing a second-half lead to Troy last week.

Southeastern Louisiana looks to bounce back at Murray State Saturday at 6 p.m. after being shutout by Louisiana Tech in week one.

Northwestern State will face Minnesota Saturday in Minneapolis at 11 a.m. Central after getting its first win since 2022 last week versus Alcorn State.

LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson has signed a 7-year deal worth $23.45 million, which will keep the two-time national champion skipper in Baton Rouge until the 2032 season. Johnson is set to make $3.05 million this season which will scale up $100,000 dollars each year of the contract. With the extension, Johnson will become the highest-paid coach in college baseball, surpassing Tennessee’s Tony Vitello.

The New Orleans Saints will be tasked with facing a talented Arizona Cardinals defense led by safety Budda Baker and linebacker Josh Sweat in its first regular-season game. Spencer Rattler says that the entire offense will have to play with good tempo while starting fast.

Cut 20 (15) “…the chains.”

UL Lafayette head coach Michael Desormeaux has ruled quarterback Walker Howard out with an undisclosed injury for this week’s game against McNeese. Desormeaux will turn to former Catholic High standout Daniel Beale at quarterback, which will be his first true start. Desormeaux also expects sophomore Lunch Winfield to get some reps to a capacity on offense.

The UL Ragin Cajuns started off the season with a very disappointing 14-12 loss against Rice. The Cajuns, who were Sun Belt Conference favorites, suddenly find themselves with limited margin for error for the rest of the season. Desormeaux (DEZ-er-moe) says that he knows the Cajuns will turn things around.

After a 4-3 vote, the Louisiana Supreme Court denied former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron’s application for rehearing on his divorce settlement. Orgeron will still have to pay his ex-wife, Kelly Orgeron, more than 8 million dollars.

The LSU defense held Clemson’s talented offense to only 261 total yards for the entire game. Kelly says there are a few characteristics that a successful defense has to have in order to play as one.

LSU senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was named the Walter Camp National Offensive Player of the Week after completing 28 of 38 passes for 232 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers’ 17-10 win against Clemson.

LSU senior cornerback Mansoor Delane was named the Chuck Bednarik Player of the Week after totaling an interception and two pass breakups in the win against Clemson. Delane only allowed one catch in forty coverage snaps.

LSU baseball announces it will play in the “Live Like Lou Jax Classic” which takes place in Jacksonville at VyStar ballpark from February 20th through the 22nd of 2026. LSU will face the Indiana Hoosiers on Friday at 1 p.m. Central. The Tigers will take on Notre Dame on the Saturday at 11 a.m. central time and then round things off on Sunday at 2. pm. against UCF.

ULM football travels to Tuscaloosa this weekend to face number-21 Alabama after a 29 to 0 victory over Saint Francis last week. Head coach Bryant Vincent says he wants to see major strides from his team every week, but especially in week two.

Southern football head coach named Cam’Ron Mccoy as the starting quarterback this Saturday against Alabama State in the Jaguars’ home opener. The move comes after sophomore Jalen Woods was ruled out with a head and neck injury he suffered against Mississippi Valley State.

LSU opened its season with a 17 to 10 win over Clemson in a defensive battle. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney gave the LSU Tigers a grade of 65 out of 100 for their performance last Saturday. Kelly clapped back, saying it was a low score considering his team dominated Clemson in the second half…

LSU came in at number three in the Associated Press Rankings this week, which is the highest ranking LSU has been since 2019.

Nicholls State football entered the FCS Top 25 poll this week at the number 22 spot. Nicholls enters the top 25 after a win over number 4 Incarnate Word and a loss to Troy despite not being ranked in the preseason polls.

For the first time ever, the Grambling State Tigers will face an Associated Press number 1 team. The Tigers will be tasked with facing the number 1 Ohio State after the Buckeyes took care of Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns this past weekend.

During the holiday weekend, the Saints made a shocking roster move, and head coach Kellen Moore says it was a rather difficult one.

The New Orleans Saints announced the hiring of Thomas Dimitroff as a consultant. Dimitroff has an extensive background in NFL front offices, most notably with the Atlanta Falcons, where he served as General Manager while helping lead the team to a Super Bowl 51 appearance.

ULM senior defensive back D’arco Perkins-McCallister was named as the Sun Belt Conference defensive player of the week after an impressive performance against Saint Francis. Perkins-McCallister totaled 8 tackles, including two sacks in the shutout win.

Two Louisiana Tech football players earned Conference USA Weekly Honors this week. Linebacker Mekhi Mason was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week and punter John Hoyet Chance was selected as the Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week.
