UL-Lafayette travels to Columbia, Missouri to face the number twenty-five Missouri Tigers on Saturday at noon central time.

Tulane will host Duke on Saturday at 7 p.m. Emotions are going to run high in Yulman Stadium as starting Blue Devil quarterback Darian Mensah returns to New Orleans for the first time since transferring from the Green Wave in the offseason.

Louisiana Tech opens up conference play in Ruston on Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. where the Bulldogs will face New Mexico State. Head coach Sonny Cumbie has yet to name a starting quarterback.

After defeating Murray State in Georgia last week, Southeastern is back home Saturday to host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at 6 p.m.

A Southern University Law professor is suspended and will likely be fired for her social media post about the murder of Charlie Kirk. Southern Board Chairman, Tony Clayton said her behavior was prejudicial to the university and that Kelly Carmena’s comment saying she would 1000% wish death on people like Kirk was tantamount to participating in inciting violence and that it would not be tolerated at Southern.

With sophomore tight end Trey’Dez Green listed as a game-time decision with an MCL sprain, LSU will have to rely heavily on Bauer Sharp to be effective against Florida Saturday night. Head coach Brian Kelly likes the traits and intensity Sharp brings to the field each week.

A Shreveport couple is charged with felony government benefits fraud. The Louisiana Bureau of Investigation says 42-year-old Ebony Taylor didn’t disclose her marital status and she with her husband 39-year-old Andre Jackson concealed their true income when they applied for Medicaid for themselves and their children. Turns out they own several tracts of land in Caddo Parish including their home valued at over $650,000. They also added a pool and spa for $94,000, financed an $80,000 BMW, took expensive vacations and paid for luxuries including cosmetic surgery. They’re accused of defrauding the Medicaid program of approximately $127,000.

Houmas House owner Kevin Kelly says many of his guests called the statue their favorite item on the tour and he says he’ll try to display it again, but Lincoln’s head is missing.

The three people arrested are 28-year-old Steve Coronado of Raceland, 20-year-old Alma Fontenot of New Iberia and 49-year-old Bruce Shelvin of Avondale.

Wallace says Isaac was not on duty when the alleged abuse occurred. He says all defendants will be treated the same way, regardless of their occupations.

Kelly says the statue has been cut up and it was a pawn shop owner in Metairie who alerted authorities that he had the stolen statue.

Through the first two weeks of the season, the LSU defense has allowed only 17 total points and ranks 11th nationally in total defense. Junior linebacker Whit Weeks says that even though the Tigers have had a decent start, he knows they can be even better.

On Thursday night, Dunham quarterback Elijah Haven, who is ranked as the composite number one QB in the nation in the class of 2027, lifted the Tigers to a 63- 42 win over Live Oak. Haven completed 21-of-his-30 passes for a remarkable 402 yards and six touchdowns.  On the ground, Haven rushed for 133 yards on 10 rushes with two touchdowns. Haven’s eight touchdowns and total yards marked career highs for the highly touted junior quarterback.

Louisiana Tech will open up conference play against New Mexico State Saturday night at 6:30. Head coach Sonny Cumbie says he and the staff are still evaluating the quarterback room. Cumbie said the Bulldogs need more production at the position and believes this weekend will help them make a decision.

After a week one victory at Oak Grove, Calvary travels to Monroe for a test against Neville High School. Neville is ranked as number four in this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association 5A poll after defeating Evangel last week by a score of 33- 32. Neville is looking to get back-to-back wins over Calvary after the Tigers defeated the Cavaliers 42-38 last season.

Catholic High will host St. Thomas More tonight in a blockbuster matchup. The Bears are coming off a promising 32-23 win over Destrehan. The Cougars are coming off of a season-opening loss to Carencro High.

Congratulations to the Southwood Cowboys, they ended the state’s longest losing streak in high school football. The Cowboys defeated Arcadia 16 to 15 at Lee Hedges Stadium to snap their 46-game losing streak.

Kelly believes the three suspects have never been to Houmas House, so he’s wondering who put them up to breaking a window and stealing the statue.

After four people have died and several others became sick after eating raw oysters contaminated with the flesh-eating bacteria Vibrio vulnificus, the LSU Ag Center is urging you to use caution before eating raw oysters. Seafood extension specialist Evelyn Watts says the risk is especially high during the summer.
