Through the first two weeks of the season, the LSU defense has allowed only 17 total points and ranks 11th nationally in total defense. Junior linebacker Whit Weeks says that even though the Tigers have had a decent start, he knows they can be even better.

On Thursday night, Dunham quarterback Elijah Haven, who is ranked as the composite number one QB in the nation in the class of 2027, lifted the Tigers to a 63- 42 win over Live Oak. Haven completed 21-of-his-30 passes for a remarkable 402 yards and six touchdowns.  On the ground, Haven rushed for 133 yards on 10 rushes with two touchdowns. Haven’s eight touchdowns and total yards marked career highs for the highly touted junior quarterback.

Louisiana Tech will open up conference play against New Mexico State Saturday night at 6:30. Head coach Sonny Cumbie says he and the staff are still evaluating the quarterback room. Cumbie said the Bulldogs need more production at the position and believes this weekend will help them make a decision.

After a week one victory at Oak Grove, Calvary travels to Monroe for a test against Neville High School. Neville is ranked as number four in this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association 5A poll after defeating Evangel last week by a score of 33- 32. Neville is looking to get back-to-back wins over Calvary after the Tigers defeated the Cavaliers 42-38 last season.

Catholic High will host St. Thomas More tonight in a blockbuster matchup. The Bears are coming off a promising 32-23 win over Destrehan. The Cougars are coming off of a season-opening loss to Carencro High.
