Safe drinking water administrator, Jake Causey, says once the minimum disinfectant levels are reached, they’ll continue the chlorine burn for another 60 days and sample the water at 70 different sites…:

A man is in a medially induced coma after deputies in Iberia Parish say he ingested a large amount of drugs in a house and was hiding during a search by cops. Captain Ryan Turner says they called the SWAT team to intervene over concerns that 35-year-old Heath Duplechain may have been armed at the time…:

LSU power receiver Travin Dural suffered a cut to his forehead that required stitches due to a car accident over the weekend, but Coach Les Miles says Dural practiced yesterday and will play in the ULM game Saturday. Miles said Dural had a minor soft tissue injury and was running around in his helmet fine during Wednesday’s practice.

US-Senate candidate Republican Congressman Bill Cassidy says he will participate now in two statewide TV debates with the incumbent Democrat Senator Mary Landrieu. The election is November 4th. Cassidy, Landrieu and tea party favorite Rob Maness will face off on on LBP on October 14th in Shreveport on Raycom Stations October 29th in Baton Rouge.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says a 35-year-old man is in a medically induced coma after ingesting narcotics during an attempt to execute a search warrant. Capt. Ryan Turner says two suspects emerged from the residence and said a third person was trying to hide inside…:

The man was found and rushed to a hospital. Authorities found synthetic marijuana, ecstacy, cocaine, methamphetamine, and firearms during their search of the residence.

With this, Sempra can begin construction to expand their facility near Hackberry. Senator Mary Landrieu says this will have a big economic impact for southwest Louisiana…:

Louisiana Tech will kick-off conference play tonight with a meeting against North Texas. The Bulldogs are coming off a big win over U-L Lafayette, while the Mean Green beat up on SMU last week. Tech head coach Skip Holtz says he’s impressed with North Texas’ power running game…:

After practice Wednesday, LSU Head Coach Les Miles said leading receiver Travin Dural will play in the ULM game Saturday despite an injury from a car accident last weekend. Miles called it a soft tissue injury to Dural’s forehead but he was back running around yesterday with his helmet on.

The Saints are getting ready to face the Cleveland Browns this Sunday. The Browns were the talk of the preseason, because of Johnny Manziel, but he was beat out by Brian Hoyer. New Orleans Coach Sean Payton says Hoyer played well in the second half last week..:

The Ray Rice saga continues. Yesterday afternoon an AP source came out and said that NFL executives were sent the Rice elevator domestic battery video back in April. Commissioner Goodell told CBS this week that he saw it for the first time Monday.

A lack of chlorine in the water led to the formation of the amoeba. This same brain eating amoeba has led to deaths in St. Bernard and DeSoto Parishes. Causey says once the minimum disinfectant levels are reached, they’ll continue the chlorine burn for another 60 days and sample the water at 70 different sites…

In the meantime, Causey says the water coming out of a faucet in St. John is safe to drink, even though they’ve increased chlorine levels…

D’Albor says this officer put his life on the line for others and has never given up hope…:

The bullet came within millimeters of killing or permanently paralyzing the 25-year veteran officer. D’Albor says Benoit can now move his arms, legs and neck and can walk a short distance but a full recovery could take years. The SWAT team found Duplechain in the residence unconscious, unresponsive, and in need of immediate medical attention. He was transported to a local hospital where the medical staff placed him in a medically induced coma. Turner says the amount of narcotics Duplechain ingested is unknown at this time…

St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe announces they plan to cut about 300 jobs. The hospital employs about 2,000 workers and West Monroe Representative Frank Hoffman says they’ve always provided excellent service…

Police in Alexandria say a teenager from Texas is charged in the bomb threats that were called in to Rapides Parish Schools yesterday. Lt. Bruce Fairbanks says the schools were cleared and they were able to develop 17-year-old Reuben David Byon of Fredricksburg, Texas as a suspect. He says they have no clue what the motive is at this time…

A 12-year-old boy from Pearl River is recovering from a rare alligator attack which took place in Lake Ponchartrain over the weekend. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries spokesman Bo Boehringer says you should be extra careful swimming in natural water around a camp or residential development where people may clean or dump fish…:

LSU’s leading receiver Travin Dural could reportedly miss Saturday night’s game against ULM. Police records indicate Dural was involved in a car accident on Saturday after the game and needed stiches. At this point, it’s difficult for him to wear a helmet because of the stitches.

The Associated Press is reporting that a law enforcement official has come forward to say a copy of the video showing Ray Rice punching his then finance in a casino elevator was delivered to an NFL executive in April. Commissioner Roger Goodell has said they had not been able to see the video, until TMZ released it this week.

Other NFL news, Saints wide receiver Kenny Stills was listed as limited at practice today, because of a quad injury. Cornerback Keenan Lewis and linebacker Curtis Lofton were also limited because of injuries. New Orleans is preparing for Sunday’s game against Cleveland. Browns linebacker and former LSU Tiger Barkevious Mingo did not practice today because of a shoulder injury.

Louisiana Tech released its men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming season this year. The Bulldogs will play 15 games at the Thomas Assembly Center. They’ll also visit national-power Syracuse on December 14th and North Carolina State on December 23rd.

Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says thirty-five year-old Heath Duplechain is in a medically induced coma, and deputies say he will be facing numerous drug charges, if he makes it.
