Secretary of State Tom Schedler says in the near future you will use an iPad to cast your ballot instead of going into a voting booth. Schedler says he’s looking at phasing out the traditional voting booth and replacing those old machines with an iPad

Schedler says with this new technology, you’ll still have to go to a voting location. But he says you can use the Geaux-vote app on your phone to fill out your ballot beforehand and these iPADs can read your ballot…

Schedler says he doesn’t expect to use iPADs for voting until at least 2017. He says the plan would be to lease the i-pads, which would cost the state 50-60-million dollars.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 55-year-old man in Alexandria on human trafficking charges after receiving a complaint in reference to alleged child abuse. Spokesperson Lt. Tommy Carnline says officers continued their investigation and discovered additional allegations.

Carnline says as a result of the investigation from the original complaint, Bobby Otis Augustine was arrested on five counts of Human Trafficking, as well as, four additional charges.

Carnline says Augustine was taken into custody without incident and is currently in the Rapides Parish Detention Center awaiting bond.
