The ad claims that one of the congressman’s biggest supporters is a company that builds weapons for Middle Eastern regimes. Boustany says that’s Swiftships which employs 200 Louisianans in Morgan City…:

Governor John Bel Edwards is holding a media briefing today at the airport in New Orleans when he arrives from Cuban to talk about his trip. In a statement, the governor’s office says the trade mission set the stage for greater economic and cultural exchanges between the Caribbean nation and Louisiana. The trip follows President Barack Obama’s decision in December 2014 to normalize relations with Cuba.

Jennings was over Iota 50-26. DeRidder beat Crowley 28-7. Berwick got by Patterson 42-35. Holy Savior Menard beat Rosepine 49-8. Tonight the big game is Benton versus Minden. Benton won last year 41-34.

Louisiana Tech and pulled out am incredible win last night over Western Kentucky in grand fashion. The Bulldogs needed a victory badly. Western Kentucky trailed by 21 at the start of the fourth and the Hilltoppers nearly came back, but the Bulldogs recovered a fumble to get the 55-52 win. Quarterback Ryan Higgins says they had confidence in their D the entire time..:

Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni responded to reported allegations of sending sexually inappropriate messages to a 17-year-old boy. In a minute-long video statement, Yenni acknowledges sending “improper texts to a young man.” He also said he will work everyday to prove he can rise from a bad decision.

The 13th Gate in Baton Rouge has been ranked the third scariest haunted house in the United States, according to HauntWorld.com. Owner and Designer of the 13thGate Dwayne Sanburn says what makes it a unique haunted attraction is that they work on it all year round. He says they are known for their realistic detail and it becomes very scary for people in October when visiting the haunted house.

 This year the 13th Gate will feature a flooded sewer filled with Jack the Ripper’s victims. Sanburn says visitors will encounter some of the best actors in the haunting industry during their walk through the haunted house. He says a lot goes in to putting these scary characters together.

Tiger-rag-dot-com reports LSU offered its charter plane and buses to accommodate a possible relocation to Baton Rouge, as well as hotel accommodations and food. But The University of Florida was adamant that the game should be played in Gainesville and rejected LSU’s offer to host or travel elsewhere. Bonnette says the SEC will look to reshuffle some games so the LSU-Florida game happens this season, but he has his doubts.

Bonnette says the team is disappointed the game has been postponed, but they’ll just focus on getting ready for the Southern Miss game next week. But he says cancelling this game could impact SEC title implications later this season.

Republican Congressman Charles Boustany is outraged at an ad that he says was released by a third-party group supporting State Treasurer John Kennedy’s campaign. The ad alleges Boustany voted to send tax dollars to Iraq and Pakistan, which the commercial says are breeding grounds for terrorists. Boustany says the ad is completely untrue.

If LSU wins the rest of its SEC games, not having this Florida game could hurt their chances of winning the West division. Orgeron says they can’t worry about that

Embattled Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni is no longer in the state. He’s a lieutenant in the US Navy Reserve and has been deployed to respond to Hurricane Matthew. He has yet to address allegations that he sent sexually explicit messages to a 17-year-old boy. But his media consultant says Yenni will respond to the accusations in a commercial that will air on New Orleans TV stations.

The US Supreme Court has declined to hear former-New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin’s appeal of his 2014 public corruption conviction. Legal analyst Chick Foret says this means Nagin will have to serve out the remaining 8 years of his 10 year sentence, because there is no other court that can hear his appeal.

Nagin was convicted on 20 counts of bribery, conspiracy, wire fraud, and filing false tax returns.

It’s officially sugar cane grinding season in Louisiana and the harvest is expected to be better than last year. General Manager of the American Sugar Cane League Jim Simon says it’s still early in the season but there are indications that the sugar content of the cane is very good. He says the mild winter last year really helped the crop get off to a good start.

The league says they will attempt to try and reschedule the game for later in the year, but it will take the reshuffling of games. But a source tells Tiger Rag-dot-com there’s zero chance the game will be rescheduled. The Tiger Rag report also says LSU offered Tiger Stadium, it’s charter plane and buses to accomodate a possible relocation to Baton Rouge.

This game features the top two wide receivers in the conference, Trent Taylor for Louisiana Tech and Taywan Taylor for Western Kentucky. Legal analyst Chick Foret says Nagin probably had some hope after the nation’s highest court vacated former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell’s corruption convicton…

The LSU-Florida game has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew. Kickoff was scheduled for 11am on Saturday, but a statement from the SEC says they will try to reschedule other league games if possible so that the LSU-Florida matchup can still take place, as both teams have a bye week this season. Before making the decision to postpone the game, LSU had offered to host or travel to a neutral location.

Some are concerned that potential damage from Hurricane Matthew could impact Louisiana’s fight to get more federal aid for flood relief. Congress is expected to return in December to discuss more financial flood relief for Louisiana and what will need to be down to help those impacted by Hurricane Matthew. US Senator Bill Cassidy says it will be an important issue for federal lawmakers to discuss.

Louisiana has already received over $400 million in federal disaster aid, and Governor John Bel Edwards has requested $2.8 billion.
