Georgia Southern rolls into Tiger Stadium this Saturday on the heels of a 10-win season that shows they are not a Sun Belt pushover. Eagles Coach Chad Lunsford says even though they are underdogs in this season-opening matchup, they are not scared to bring their triple-option attack into Death Valley.

LSU is almost a four-touchdown favorite to beat Georgia Southern.

There is college football action in the state tonight. Tulane hosts F-I-U. The Green Wave have not won an opener against an F-B-S school since 1998. In F-C-S action, Southeastern Louisana hosts 6th ranked Jacksonville State, while Northwestern State is at U-T Martin, who was 2-and-9 last year.

Louisiana Tech’s J’Mar Smith begins his third season as the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs when they face Texas on Saturday night. Smith says he feels good after losing about 10 pounds during the offseason…

For the first time in three decades, participation in high school sports has dropped at the national level. The data comes from a study by the National Federation of State High School Associations. LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine says the national trend is not reflected in Louisiana.
