Three nonpartisan good government groups, Council for a Better Louisiana, the Committee of 100 and the Public Affairs Research Council are asking the candidates for this fall’s statewide elections to reset the conversation and focus the debate on detailed plans that will move Louisiana forward. Erwin says they’ve raised 500-thousand dollars to use on digital ads and they plan to speak at town hall meetings and chamber of commerce events.

An Orleans Parish Civil Court judge is expected to set a date today on when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be deposed as part of the “Nola No Call Civil Suit.” An appeals court has denied the NFL’s attempt to block Goodell and other league officials from testifying. The goal of the suit is to make the NFL accountable and any damages recovered will go to charity.

A new child passenger safety law goes into effect Thursday. All children 12 and younger must be restrained in the back seat and State Police Lt. Nick Manale says the new law calls for children to remain in the most protected category of child restraint…
