The emotional testimony provided by Christine Blasey Ford resulted in a 201-percent increase in calls for a typical day to the National Sexual Assault Hotline. Ford testified for nearly four hours last Thursday in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee alleging Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh tried to rape her. The National Hurricane Center is watching a broad area of low pressure over the southwestern Caribbean Sea, it has a low chance of development over the next five days as it moves north.

There will be a vigil at 8 PM tonight outside of the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for late LSU basketball player Wayde Sims, who was fatally shot last week. 20-year-old Dyteon Simpson has been charged in Sims’ murder. The Advocate reports Simpson was known as a quiet, churchgoer.

A 2,500 dollar reward is being offered for information leading to the person who threw a dog out of their vehicle on I-20, killing it. Matt Doyle has more.
