Orgeron says starting center Lloyd Cushenberry is the latest offensive lineman to get hurt and he’s very questionable for Saturday’s game against Florida. True freshman Cole Smith took over for Cushenberry when he got hurt against Ole Miss.

On the recruiting front, Ruston High offensive lineman Ray Parker announced his commitment to LSU. He’s a four-star prospect.

It was a no brainer for the Conference USA to name Louisiana Tech defensive end Jaylon Ferguson as the Defensive Player of the Week. He set a career-high with four sacks in a single game. He’s only 4.5 sacks away from tying the program record. Bulldogs kicker Bailey Hale was also named Special Teams Player of the Week.

McNeese Senior linebacker BJ Blunt has been named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Cowboys 17-10 win over Stephen F Austin. The New Orleans native had a career-high 12 tackles, along with two sacks and a fumble recovery. The Cowboys are ranked 9th in the FCS poll, the Colonels are ranked 12th.
