The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that an inmate being held at the parish jail committed suicide over the weekend. Authorities say a 16-year-old male inmate was found hanged in his cell just before midnight Saturday night. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff. His identity has not been released.

Election day is next Tuesday and there are still questions concerning the two big Congressional races. LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan says there are so many candidates vying for the 6th District seat that it would be difficult to poll at this point to get a good idea of who is ahead. LSU AgCenter Soybean Specialist, Ron Levy, says this year’s soybean crop will yield between 53 and 54 bushels per acre, which is the state’s best crop ever. He says farmers aren’t the only ones that benefit from this soybean yield…
