The family of a 6-year-old autistic boy who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Avoyelles parish is suing the city of Marksville. Jeremy Mardis was killed by police when officers open fired on his father’s vehicle. The suit reportedly claims city officials improperly trained officers to use deadly force, and alleges that the officers did nothing to alleviate the boy’s suffering.

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s office says over 162-thousand people voted during the first two days of early voting. John Couvillon with JMC Analytics says the turnout thus far has really wowed everyone.

The data shows more women than men have voted so far, and more Democrats have made it to the polls than Republicans.

A study by NOAA finds Americans ate a pound more seafood last year than the previous year. Executive Director of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, Karen Profita, says the short supply of shrimp could lead to frustrations among consumers because seafood is becoming more of an everyday meal.
