An analysis of early voting turnout by JMC Analytics finds over 162-thousand people have already voted in the 2016 election after only two days. Pollster John Couvillon says voter turnout will be more front-loaded this year. He believes people are more eager to get it out of the way.

Early voting runs until November 1st, except for Sunday.

A Market Research Insight poll finds in the U.S. Senate race, Republicans John Kennedy and Charles Boustany are neck and neck within one percent of each other. Pollster Verne Kennedy says Democrat Foster Campbell is at 14-percent and the reason Democrat Caroline Fayard is behind Campbell at 12-percent is because she isn’t getting support from white Democrats.

The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested 61-year-old Tommy Francis of Plaquemine for two cold case murders from 1990 and 2002. Sheriff Brett Stassi says both cases are featured on the Discovery channel show Killing Fields and publicity like this helps witnesses come forward. He says the families of Curtis Smith and George Barrett have been waiting for justice.

The Baton Rouge River Center has been renamed the Raising Cane’s River Center. The Baton Rouge based food chain signed a 10-year naming rights deal worth 4 million dollars. CEO and Founder of the chicken finger company Todd Graves hopes the Raising Cane’s River Center will become an even better entertainment venue.
