The Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office says a shooting at the parish courthouse has left one dead. They say Keith Atkins, who was arrested earlier this year on kidnapping and other charges, was in court for a status hearing when he got into a scuffle with deputies. During the altercation, Atkins was able to take a gun from one of the deputies and committed suicide. There were no other injuries in the incident and authorities say the public was never in danger. State Police are investigating.

State Climatologist Barry Keim says cooler temperatures are in store for the Bayou State thanks to a cold front that moved through Tuesday. He says some areas of the state will see low temperatures in the 30s for the next couple of days. But Keim says these cold conditions will be short lived…
