Secretary of State Tom Schedler says he’s seeing more participation during early voting in this election than for the primary. Schedler says typically the general election receives less votes than the primary, but numbers are looking good during this early voting period, even though there will be no voting today because of Veteran’s Day.

CUT 7 (11)  “5 percent”

Schedler says he thinks voters are much more engaged with the runoff election, possibly because the ballot is smaller and the candidates are more recognizable….

Cut 8  (04)  “more defined ”

Voter turnout for the primary was 39-percent. Schedler says he’s not ready to say we’ll see a higher turnout for the runoff.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand releases new information regarding the spying scandal involving a person hired by the David Vitter Campaign. Normand says he’s been able to recover deleted recordings from the device of PI Robert Frenzel. He says one of the videos shows the owner of the PI firm trying to coerce someone into saying a blog written by Jason Berry on Vitter’s previous relationship with a prostitute, was false.

Cut 10 (10) “kinda true too”

Normand said Ruckert has obtained counsel and said they would not talk to investigators until November 23rd, two days after the election with Democrat John Bel Edwards. Normand says they also uncovered a secret video on Frenzel’s device, which shows a conversation with a potential witness to discredit the Wendy Ellis/Cortez prostitute’s story about her relationship with Vitter…:

Republican David Vitter and Democrat John Bel Edwards spent a lot of time attacking each other’s record during an hour long televised debate last night. Edwards made the case that Vitter is a very ineffective senator and says if he’s elected governor, he’ll just continue Governor Bobby Jindal’s failed policies.

Cut 14 (11) “tax payers”

Vitter claims Edwards is completely misrepresenting his record, when in fact on many occasions he publically disagreed with Jindal. He says Edwards hasn’t ever stood up against his party leader, President Barack Obama.

Cut 15  (10)  “public way”

During the debate the candidates did talk about education, Medicaid, transportation and workforce development. The conversation got testy towards the end when Vitter’s prostitution scandal was brought up. Edwards made reference to his “Patriots over Prostitutes” commercial.

Cut 16  (11)  “don’t like it”

Vitter says Edwards is acting “holier than thou,” but the Louisiana Democratic Party is using private investigators on his behalf, along with having trial lawyers doing his dirty work.
