Funeral services will be held today in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis. Mardis was fatally shot last week when Marksville City Marshals fired upon the vehicle he was riding in with his father. Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford are charged with second degree murder in the child’s death. Greenhouse and Stafford are scheduled to make their first court appearance today.

Louisiana Congressmen Ralph Abraham of Alto and Cedric Richmond of New Orleans introduce legislation which tries to prevent the death of high school football players. Abraham says their goal is to keep kids safe, while playing a game that is supposed to be fun…

Abraham’s office says since July 1st, 11 high school football players have died around the country due to reasons related to football, including 16-year-old Tyrell Cameron from Franklin Parish High School.

The devastating rose rosette disease has been confirmed for the first time in Louisiana. LSU AgCenter “Plant Doctor” Raj Singh says once roses are infected with the rose rosette virus, there is no cure. Singh says while there is cause for concern, you should stay calm if you think your roses are infected…
