The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that an 84-year-old man appears to have drowned near Black Bayou. They believe Sheffield Royer was cast-netting alone when he went into the water. His family began a search when Royer failed to return home. Deputies later found Royer unresponsive in the water. Authorities believe the drowning to be accidental, but the investigation will continue pending the coroner’s examination.

Louisiana State Police is investigating a crash in Concordia Parish which claimed the lives of three unrestrained people, including two teenagers. Master Trooper Scott Moreau says the crash involved a fully loaded Peterbilt 18 wheeler log truck driven by 28-year-old Mark Gordon of Jonesville…

He says the log truck hit a dodge truck head on and three of the occupants, including the driver, a 15 year old, and 17 year old, died after begin ejected. Charges are pending against Gordon.

Baton Rouge Police have arrested a 19-year-old man after allegedly accidentally shooting his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach. Cpl. Ljean McKneely says Jason Williams claims he was removing a handgun from a dresser when it accidentally discharged. He says Williams was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison…
