Governor Bobby Jindal says he plans to be at the funeral of fallen Louisiana State Trooper Steven Vincent on Saturday at noon at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles. L-S-P Sgt. James Anderson says Vincent’s family donated his organs and seven transplant recipients have already been chosen…:

Much of Louisiana is woke up to temperatures in the 60s this morning. Tim Humphrey, with the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, says it is rare to see these temperatures before Labor Day…:

Humphrey says these cooler temperatures with lower humidity will only last for a couple of days.

The State Department of Education says Louisiana is named the number one state in annual gains of high school students ACT scores for the second year in a row. They say the report from ACT released today indicates the state’s gain of 0.2 points in the average student’s score topped all states testing 100 percent of students. Louisiana’s performance ranked it third among six such southern states.
