Vines has died.  Vines was at the helm of the university from 1976-1991.  Visitation will be held today from 5 to 9 pm at First Baptist Church in Calhoun.  Services for Vines are scheduled for 10:30 tomorrow morning at the church, with interment at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetary in Rayville.  Vines was 88 when he died on Saturday.

Alabama is second and the Tigers and Tide meet a week from Saturday.

Research from Accountemps finds that 90-percent of workers admit to coming into the office with cold or flu symptoms. And 33-percent of the respondents say they always go to work even when under the weather. Carrie Lewis with Robert Half in New Orleans says if you’re sick, see if you can do your work from home, so you don’t get your co-workers sick…

54 percent of those who admit they’ve rolled into work with a cold or the flu say it’s because they have too much work to do, another 40 percent admit to not wanting to use up sick leave.

Lewis says only about 27 percent of workers 40 and older admit to always coming into work when sick, versus 39 percent of workers aged 25 to 40.

It’s 2019, so Lewis says not all jobs have to be done at the office. If you’re contagious but still capable of working, see if you can do it from home.

Edward Avery Mcllhenny, the son of Tabasco founder Edmund Mcllhenny, agreed to donate the land to the state in exchange for a promise that it would be used for research purposes. The deal led to research breakthroughs in the 50s, 60s and, 70s that helped out gators worldwide.
