Sheriff Jason Ard says they tracked the suspects with the help of the Secret Service, who’s cracking down on nationwide skimming operations.

191 counterfeit credit cards were allegedly discovered in their car, along with 4,000 dollars in cash. Four adults have been arrested, and three juveniles are being held as a result of the bust.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says the state is seeing fewer fatalities in fires so far in 2019 compared to other years with 16 fatal fires killing 17.  Browning credits a more mild winter as a contributing factor for the lower numbers, due to the less frequent use of space heaters and a lessened strain being put on electrical systems in older homes.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says fewer deaths is a welcomed trend, but one is oen too many, so they’re keeping up their fire safety education efforts, and they hope the community will continue fireproofing their homes.

A 14-year-old who continued to fight for her life after an attack with a hammer that left three others dead in a Terrytown home has been taken off of life support. With the death of Nashawna Riley, the suspect Terrance Leonard, now faces a fourth count of first-degree murder.

A Denham Springs couple whose home was flooded in 2016 is suing HUD in an effort to access Restore grant money. The couple’s lawyer, J.R. Whaley, says the suit against HUD is for their inaction in correcting the issue, saying many were eligible, yet not qualified for further help due to their use of an SBA loan.

The LSU AgCenter is getting a grant potentially worth one million dollars to study the vital bayou stalwart roseau cane, which helps keep the bayou intact, but is threatened by sea level changes and an infection of roseau scale. Once they investigate the different strains, and determine which is best suited to resist the scale and rising tides, Professor Roberto Diaz says they’ll work with conservation groups and other organizations to hopefully get more of the tougher variety planted in the wetlands.

The Mark Ingram era in New Orleans is over as the Saints have reportedly inked former Vikings running back Latavius Murray, and reports now indicate the Ravens have signed Ingram to a 3 year, 15 million dollar deal. Murray signed for four years 14 million.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is expected to remain with the Saints after reportedly turning down a bigger offer to go to Miami. Coach Payton backed him to take over the team after Brees retires.
Former LSU star Odell Beckham Jr. has been sent to Cleveland in a blockbuster deal.
These transactions are all expected to finalized today as a new league begins at 3 PM.

Northwestern State beat LSU in baseball for the first time since 2011 last night in front of over three-thousand fans in Natchitcoches. Jeffrey Elkins two-run double snapped a one-one tie in the sixth inning and senior Cullen McDonald pitched into the 8th inning and gave up just one run.
Elsewhere, Louisiana Tech blanked Sam Houston State seven to nothing, UNO beat the Cajuns 10-3, ULM over Southern 10-6, Nicholls defeated alcorn state 10-1 and Tulane topped McNeese nine to three.
