LSU cornerback Kristian Fulton has been reinstated. He was serving a two-year suspension for tampering with an NCAA drug test. He sat out last season, but Athletic Director Joe Alleva argued that the punishment should only be one season, based on the rule that was broken. The NCAA agreed after looking at the case again.

Civil Court Judge Piper Griffin has issued a temporary restraining order so two girls can return to Christ the King School in Jefferson Parish even though the Archdiocese of New Orleans says their braided hair extensions violates school policy. Another hearing will take place September sixth and the judge could make the injunction permanent.

LSU’s Death Valley has a new option for fans who want to maintain their buzz after a day of tailgating. Matt Doyle has the story.

What a great suprise for the LSU football team. Highly touted cornerback Kristian Fulton has been reinstated by the NCAA effective immediately. He was serving a two-year suspension for tampering with a drug test. Head Coach Ed Orgeron delivered the good news at his post-practice press conference…

The reason for the reinstatement, Athletic Director Joe Alleva argued Fulton actually violated a rule that carried a one-year suspension, instead of two and the NCAA agreed.

The LHSAA has suspended Hahnville head football coach Nick Saltaformaggio for the first four games of the season and Tigers Quarterback Andrew Robison has been ruled ineligible for the season. Apparently Robison’s transfer from Vandebilt Catholic to Hahnville broke LHSAA rules. Hahnville is appealing.

After mising nearly three weeks with a groin injury, Saints first round pick Marcus Davenport is back at practice. The rookie defensive end says he stayed sharp mentally during his time away from the field…

Head Coach Sean Payton says Davenport has some catching up to do. Davenport should see some snaps on Saturday night in the preseason game against the Chargers.

Former LSU star Aaron Nola could be the front-runner to win the NL Cy Young after outdueling Max Scherzer yesterday afternoon in Washington. Nola struck out nine and threw eight shutout innings in a 2-0 Phillies win. The Baton Rouge native is now 15-3 with a 2.13 ERA.

The NCAA tournament selection committee will no longer use the R-P-I when it comes deciding who gets into the Big Dance or seeding for March Madness. Instead a new formula called the NCAA Evaluation Tool will be used. NET looks at game results, strength of schedule, scoring margin and net offensive and defensive efficiency.

Louisiana launches a new ad campaign that encourages out of state residents to feed their soul in the Bayou State. The campaign includes three commercials showing visitors tearing into po’boys, dancing to zydeco, catching bass, and more. Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says it’s aimed at maintaining the state’s record breaking tourism numbers.

Nungesser says 47-million people visited Louisiana last year, which was nearly 500-thousand more than the year before.

New to Tiger Stadium this season, is an area called the “Chute.” It’s where fans can purchase and consume alcohol. Advocate Sports Columnist Scott Rabalais says it’s the first time LSU will all adult ticketholders to legally drink in Death Valley…

Louisiana’s launching its new ad campaign that’s set to feature “Feed Your Soul” on social media in states around the country, and countries around the world. The campaign includes three videos featuring visitors tearing into po’boys, dancing zydeco, catchin bass, and more. Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says it’s aimed at maintaining the state’s record breaking tourism numbers.

Nungesser says the tourism industry brings in 1.8 billion in taxes, which equates to 1,000 dollars in tax savings for each Louisiana family. He says of particular note is the recent influx of foreign visitors, particularly those from Asia. The Lt. Governor says they’ll be marketing the new movie trail that satisfies their appetite for American movies shot in the bayou.

Two men have been arrested by LDWF officers after allegedly killing an alligator out of season in St. Martin Parish. Jeremy Kibble of Lafayette and 31 year old Daniel Norton of New Iberia are charged with taking an alligator without a license, taking an alligator during a closed season, and intentional concealment of wildlife. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries spokesperson Adam Einck says the two tried to pull a fast one on the officers who suspected suspicious activity…

Purple and Gold fans can leave the flasks at home cause Death Valley’s got a new option, The Chute, for those looking to toast the Tiger’s in victory or wash down the bitter taste of defeat with a cold brew that’s available to any ticket holding fan. Fans in the shoot can buy and drink beer, as long as they keep it within the area. Advocate Sports Columnist Scott Rabalais says it’s a step forward for fan equality.

The bar will serve soft drinks, food, and beer, and is located on the south side of the stadium.

Currently fans are barred from drinking booze outside of premium area. Rabalais says even though the 1,250 person capacity is just a fraction of Death Valley’s total game day population, it should help LSU incentive more people to catch the Tigers live, and for the duration of games.

LSU has been appealing he SEC’s drinking policy that limits consumption in stadiums. Rabalais says after the Chute takes off on the September 8th opening home game against Southeastern, other SEC teams are likely to notice, and rally to have the policy changed conference wide.

Vice President Mike Pence is in New Orleans for a fundraising event with Southeast Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise who reportedly is eying a run at Speaker of the House, a position that may not be available to him if Republicans tank the midterms. LSU Political Science Professor Robert Hogan says hosting a fundraiser for other party members is a great way for the Jefferson Parish Republican to build goodwill for future attempts to climb the political ladder.

A Shreveport woman was surprised to find out she was granted a divorce even though she was not seeking one, and now her husband, 27-year-old Demario Clark, is in jail.  Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Cindy Chadwick states Clark now has a new girlfriend, 50-year old Lisa McKinney, and she’s facing legal issues too.

Louisiana is one of only five states without a statewide rideshare policy that would allow companies like Uber and Lyft to operate in any city. Rideshare legislation crashed and burned in the Senate after parliamentary maneuvers by Senate President John Alario. The Advocate reports Alario has a close friend, former legislator Francis Heitmeier, in the cab industry. UL Lafayette Poli Sci Professor Pearson  Cross says those kinds of sweetheart deals to local businesses are common, and if you think this legislature would pass it, think again.

Two Springhill men are under arrest for possession of a substantial amount of child pornography. 44-year-old Bo Skywalker Roberts is facing two counts of child porn possession, and 54-year-old Joe Palmer is looking at 200 counts of possession, and 40 counts of distribution. State Police Trooper Glenn Younger says the men were arrested in two separate investigations.

The LHSAA has ruled Hahnville quarterback Andrew Robison is ineligible for the upcoming season and the Tigers Head Coach Nick Saltaformaggio has been suspended for the first four games, because of alleged recruiting violations. Robison is a senior, who transferred from Vandebilt Catholic. Several in-state colleges are looking at Robison, who threw for 25-hundred yards and 30 touchdowns last season. The St. Charles Parish School system says they plan to appeal the ruling.
