State Police Colonel Kevin Reeves addressed the Baton Rouge Press Club Monday discussing controversies that have recently plagued LSP. He was not able to comment directly on the investigation into the LACE program, which gave officers extra money for working for local district attorneys, but says it’s suspended until it can be improved…:

Louisiana’s newly elected state treasurer, John Schroder will officially be sworn in during a ceremony in Kenner tonight. Schroder ran as a conservative, citing his time in Louisiana’s House of Representatives. He received 56 percent of the vote, to Democratic opponent Derrick Edwards’ 44 percent during the November 18th runoff election. The turnout was record-low.

A cold front moving over the state will bring plummeting temperatures and rain. Ahead of it we will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms today. National Weather Service meteorologist Patrick Omundson says temps will fall throughout the day…:

Funeral arrangements have been set for Kaliste Saloom, Jr., the noted Lafayette judge and historian. He died over the weekend at the age of 99. UL-Lafayette President Joe Savoie says after Saloom served in World War 2, he returned to Lafayette and helped it become the largest city in Acadiana..:

Saloom was elected as Lafayette City Judge in 1953, a position he held 40 years.

State Police Superintendent Kevin Reeves says LSP is facing some of its darkest days amid allegations surrounding the department. He says all cases involving accusations of wrongdoing will go before a Disciplinary Review Panel which will ensure all decisions regarding troopers’ actions are decided in a way where no one receives special treatment from the Superintendent:

The Saints can take another big step towards clinching an NFC South championship, when they visit the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday night. Defensive end Cameron Jordan says after completing the season sweep over Carolina by beating the Panthers on Sunday, the team has even bigger goals for this season…:

Last night the Warriors rallied past the Pelicans in New Orleans, 125-115. Jrue Holiday scored 34 for the Pels, and E’Twaun Moore had a career-high 27 points. DeMarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant both received their second technical fouls of the game when bickering in the final minutes and were both ejected. Cousins is up to seven technical fouls for the season.

The NFL has suspended New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski one game on for a late hit to the head of Bills defensive back and former LSU Tiger Tre’Davious White.

Louisiana Tech is heading to a bowl game for a fourth consecutive season as they’ll play SMU in the first ever Frisco Bowl on December 20th in Frisco, Texas. Bulldogs Head Coach Skip Holtz says they look forward to the matchup against the 7-5 Mustangs…:

Junior center Will Clapp was the lone Tiger named to the All-SEC Offense First Team. Linebacker Devin White and cornerback Greedy Williams are also on the first team.

It’s going to get cold real fast in the Bayou State as a major weather system begins affecting north Louisiana today.  National Weather Service meteorologist Patrick Omundson says it will feel more like a springtime front as thunderstorms are a good possibility with this arctic blast…

The Department of Health is improving on the number of deceased people being sent Medicaid payments, but it’s still happening. Michelle Southern reports:

FEMA trailers will stick around for some flood victims a little while longer.  A request by the state will extend temporary housing until May 15th 2018.   However, FEMA has denied the state’s request to waive rental fees.  Occupants will be charged a Fair Market Rent starting March 1st.  FEMA’s temporary housing program ends typically 18 months following a disaster.

A special training class will be held tonight to help residents become better prepared in terrifying situations that might occur in public.  Director of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s training academy Bruce Teutsch (touch) explains how “Surviving the Terror” will benefit those who attend the class…

The Saints beat the Carolina Panthers yesterday 31 to 21, leaving the Black and Gold with a 9 and three record. Fans in the Crescent City were fired up after watching the game and had lots to say about rookie running back Alvin Kamara.

The Saints lead the Carolina Panthers by one game who are now 8-and-4.  Up next for the Saints are the Falcons who are 7 and 5.

Six LSU Tigers made the 2017 Associated Press ALL SEC Football team. Center Will Clapp, linebacker Arden Key, linebacker Devin White and cornerback Greedy Williams are on the first team. Second-team selections are running back Derrius Guice and wide receiver DJ Chark. Guice posted on twitter that he thought it was a joke he was a second-team selection.

For the second straight year, LSU is headed to the Citrus Bowl. Last year they won a lopsided contest, this time they’ll play Notre Dame. It’s rare for a team to go to the same bowl game in consecutive years. Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan says they have ways to make the experience different for the players…

And Louisiana Tech is headed to a fourth straight bowl game as they’ll face SMU in the first-ever Frisco Bowl, which will be played on December 20th outside of Dallas.

The Saints are alone in first place in the NFC South after beating Carolina 31-21 yesterday in front of a jacked up Superdome crowd. The Saints got the fans in this game right away, when they decided to go for it in the first quarter when they were facing fourth and goal from the two yard line. Alvin Kamara scored the first of his two touchdowns. Quarterback Drew Brees says the decision to go for it on fourth down, showed they were there to win…

Should be a good crowd at the Smoothie King Center tonight as the Pelicans host the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors. New Orleans all-star Anthony Davis will miss his second straight game because of a pelvis injury. The Pelicans medical team says A-D is day-to-day. The Warriors have won 14 of their last 17 after a slow start. Tip-off is at 7 PM.

The Department of Health has gotten better about erroneously making Medicaid payments to deceased recipients over the last four years, but still has work to do. A new report from the state’s Legislative Auditor found LDH made nearly $718,000 in improper payments between July 2013 and August 2017. Performance Audit Manager Chris Magee says LDH has improved since 2013:

Funeral services have been announced for Acadiana area visionary and UL-Lafayette supporter Judge Kaliste (collie) Saloom Jr., Saturday at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lafayette.  The 99-year-old former Lafayette City judge died over the weekend following a short illness.  Visitation will be Friday at Martin and Castile’s downtown Lafayette location.

A new report from the state’s Legislative Auditor found LDH made nearly $718,000 in improper payments to deceased recipients between July 2013 and August 2017. Performance Audit Manager Chris Magee says a 2013 report showed LDH paid about $1.85 million for deceased individuals over one year. He says the numbers are improving, but some deaths aren’t making it to the system:

The leader of the Louisiana State Police says his agency is facing some of the “darkest days” it’s ever had, due to scandals left behind by former Superintendent Mike Edmonson. Col. Kevin Reeves says the rift has hurt morale within LSP, but says controversies stem from the actions of only a few. A state police report accuses Edmonson of knowing about the side trip and deleting text messages during the investigation.
