A new report from the state’s Legislative Auditor found LDH made nearly $718,000 in improper payments to deceased recipients between July 2013 and August 2017. Performance Audit Manager Chris Magee says a 2013 report showed LDH paid about $1.85 million for deceased individuals over one year. He says the numbers are improving, but some deaths aren’t making it to the system:

Florida State will play Southern Mississippi in the 2017 Walk-On’s Independence Bowl in Shreveport on December 27th. I-Bowl spokesman Stefan Nolet says since the game is after Christmas, they have plenty of activities planned for fans prior to kickoff…

The leader of the Louisiana State Police says his agency is facing some of the “darkest days” it’s ever had, due to scandals left behind by former Superintendent Mike Edmonson. Col. Kevin Reeves says the rift has hurt morale within LSP, but says controversies stem from the actions of only a few. A state police report accuses Edmonson of knowing about the side trip and deleting text messages during the investigation.
