The first of two funerals is this afternoon for the two teenagers that were killed in Caldwell Parish following the Caldwell Parish High School homecoming parade. 16-year-old Tristen Robinson and 15-year-old Ava Crockett were killed on Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash. The wreck remains under investigation.

The US Supreme Court is expected to decide today whether to accept a petition by a New Orleans man who was convicted on a 10-2 vote of murder in 2015. Louisiana is one of two states where a unanimous decision is not necessary for a felony conviction. Loyola Law Professor Dane Ciolino says for years the nation’s high court has allowed non-unanimous verdicts in Louisiana and Oregon…:

Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro says he didn’t plan to lead an inequality protest during the national anthem during Sunday’s game against the Panthers, but felt it was the right thing to do. Quarterback Drew Brees does not agree with protesting the national anthem, but felt the president calling people who do names and saying they should be fired is very unbecoming of his office. Coach Sean Payton said it seems every time the president opens his mouth he’s saying something that only divides us further. Some fans are so upset about some players protests that they are burning memorabilia and calling for a boycott.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser is visiting Europe this week, to promote Louisiana and the direct flights to New Orleans. He says he’ll be making many radio appearances and plans to talk about the music here, the food and other great things to see here in Louisiana…:

A handful of Saints players chose to sit during the national anthem on Sunday before the game against the Panthers, and some fans are so upset they say they are boycotting the team and burning memorabilia. President Trump said the NFL should fire players who protest during the national anthem. Quarterback Drew Brees disagrees with Mr. Trump saying he believes it’s unbecoming of the office of President to say such things.

Meanwhile the The Saints put together one of their better performances in a long time as they defeated NFC South rival Carolina 34-13. Coach Sean Payton says the Black and Gold had a good week of practice and it showed in their performance on Sunday…:

They put together an impressive effort, but a late field goal lifted South Carolina to a win over Louisiana Tech Saturday, 17-16.

Playing as a ranked team for the first time in 10 years, Nicholls struggled against top-5 Sam Houston State as the Colonels feel 66-17.

The New Orleans Saints have responded to President Trump’s comments indicating NFL players should be fired for protesting during the national anthem. It said Tom Benson believes players that represent the Saints and Pelicans organizations should be allowed to share or express their feelings. 10 members of the team chose to sit during the national anthem before Sunday’s game against the Panthers, causing some Saints fans to take to social media indicating they are boycotting the team and burning memorabilia.

LSU has used this technology for two years. Mele says by using head or eye control, people are unable to talk can communicate with their friends and family. She says one might think they could download the software on their computer and bank their voice from home but that’s not the case.

East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore sent an email to local school administrators alerting them police have seen an increase in possession of alcohol and intoxication among high school students at LSU home games. Moore says law enforcement agencies that provide security on LSU game days will increase their presence…:

The letter comes as the campus is reeling from the death of 18-year-old Max Gruver fraternity pledge.

The initial investigative report in Gruver’s case has been released by LSU-PD. It states that the 18-year-old had been found unresponsive at the at the Phi Delta Theta house “after a night of drinking.” It also says that Gruver was driven to a hospital in a private vehicle where he was pronounced dead on September 13th. The coroner previously said it would be some weeks before tests came back showing how much alcohol Gruver had in his system.

Arizona Senator John McCain has announced he opposes the health care bill that’s co-authored by Louisiana’s senior senator Bill Cassidy. In a statement, McCain says we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats. D-C observers say McCain’s opposition is a significant setback in Cassidy’s efforts to get the legislation passed this month.

Tomorrow marks the 12-year anniversary of Hurricane Rita, the last major hurricane to hit Louisiana. State Climatologist Barry Keim says Rita made its mark on southwest Louisiana…

The first police report on Gruver’s death was released by LSU-PD and indicates the freshman was found unresponsive at the fraternity house, then later pronounced dead at a hospital.

The Lafayette Police Department says a 25-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his father. The victim is identified as 48-year-old John Adams. The suspect, Damarkus Adams, is under arrest on the charge of Second Degree murder.

A Breaux Bridge Police officer is under arrest for allegedly having sexual interactions with a 16-year-old. State Police is investigating and Master Trooper David says it’s a shame when LSP has to arrest someone sworn to protect the public…:

29-year-old Craig David is charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile, computer aided solicitation of a minor and malfeasance in office.
