Lt Governor Jay Dardenne has learned Disney-ABC has placed a moratorium on new film production in Louisiana because of changes made to the film tax credit program. He says the new law’s $180 million cap on credits redeemed is too low and movie producers are obviously displeased…

US Senator David Vitter, who like Dardenne, is running for governor, issued his own press release today saying he spoke with a Vice President with Disney who confirmed the company has not imposed a moratorium. But this issue needs to be revisted by the next governor.

The Louisiana NAACP is asking Governor Bobby Jindal to put a halt to the sale of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans license plate. The Office of Motor Vehicles says 160 of these speciality plates are on Louisiana roads and the plate does feature a confederate flag.

New Pelicans Head Coach Alvin Gentry believes he has a core group of players on the roster that have the potential of winning an NBA Championship. Gentry just had the opportunity to hoist the Larry O’ Brien Championship trophy as an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors. Now Gentry will be a head coach for a fifth time in his career at the age of 60, and he’s ready for the challenge…

Tiger-rag-dot-com reports that an NBA team has told former LSU Tiger Jordan Mickey they are committed to selecting him in the first round on Thursday night. Most draft experts have Mickey going in the 2nd round.

There’s a break down in talks between the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and the Louisiana High School officials association over pay, which raises concern over who will officiate athletic events this fall. The officials association wants a pay raise, but LHSAA executive director Eddie Bonine is promising to come up with a new fee structure that would start in 2016. The officials association says they are tired of promises and they’ve only received two fee increases in the past 25 years. Bonine says he’ll come up with plan of action in the next day or so, on how to address this conflict.

In baseball…former LSU pitcher Nick Rumbelow has been called up to the Major Leagues by the New York Yankees. The right-hander from Texas gives LSU five former players who are now in the majors.

LSU’s Alex Lange has been named to the Baseball America Freshman All-American team. Lange went 12 and 0 with a 1.97 ERA this past season.

Thibodaux Police have made arrest of a man for heroine possession, while a child related to him sat unrestrained in the back seat of his vehicle. Twenty-nine year-old Tyrone Scott allegedly switched license plates, then tried to flee on foot from officers, after he was pulled over. Scott faces a combination of drug, resisting arrest and motor vehicle violation charges.

East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Dr. Beau Clark is still searching for the cause of death of a man shot with Taser guns by two Baton Rouge police officers. Clark says in the preliminary autopsy of Kevin Bajoie, he found other physical evidence along with wounds connected to the Tasers.

Bajoie died on Saturday after an altercation with police that lead to two officers tasing him. Clark says they are doing more tests to determine if the head trauma happened before or during the incident. He says every finding is important and necessary to determine how Bajoie died.

Clark says the results will come back in around three or four weeks and he will then have a clearer picture of what happened.

David says it is believed that Mitchell made his way to the front seat and fell from the passenger front window. The child was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. Mitchell’s mother, 32-year-old Amber Watson was driving the vehicle at the time and David says impairment is not a suspected factor…

The funeral of the New Orleans Police officer fatally shot last week while bringing a prisoner to Orleans Parish Prison has been set. According to the family of Officer Daryle Holloway, the Mass will begin Saturday, at 11 a.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church and he’ll be buried at St. Louis Cemetery No. 3. Police allege 33-year-old Travis Boys shot and killed Officer Holloway inside the police unit.

Former Purdue quarterback Danny Etling has tranferred to LSU. He’ll be eligible to play in 2016.

Nicholls State is mourning the death of former Colonel and Major League Baseball Player Darryl Hamilton. Police in suburban Houston say Hamilton was fatally shot by Monica Jordan in what appears to be a murder-suicide. Nicholls State baseball coach Seth Thibodaux says Hamilton was an amazing role model for young players…

According to a report from The Clarion-Ledger, there are 55 schools that former Louisiana Tech basketball player Xavian Stapleton can’t transfer to. Those schools include any school in Conference USA or schools in the states of Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas. Stapleton averaged seven points a game as a freshman last season, but decided to leave the Bulldogs when Mike White took the job at Florida.
