Federal prosecutors say a mailman in Shreveport pleaded guilty to stealing Netflix movies he was supposed to be deliverying. They say 30-year-old Frankey Savannah faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release a $250,000 fine and restitution.

A group of lawmakers who oppose Common Core are going to Oklahoma today to get tips on how to pass legislation that would let the state control education standards. A Cox Communications contractor is running from deputies after a 14-year-old girl said she had consensual sex with him in her bed. Cops are searching for 37-year-old Christopher Hilton of Kentwood. The juvenile alleges she and Hilton continued texting after the sexual encounter. Deputies contacted Hilton about the situation and scheduled an interview with him. Hilton told the investigator he would not show up for the interview.

A school bus driver in Ouachita Parish has reportedly been suspended with pay after leaving a 4-year-old child who was sleeping on his bus. They say the kindergartner from Riser Elementary was not noticed with the driver finished his route. The driver’s name has not been released and the incident is being reviewed by the system’s Transportation Advisory Committee.

By the way 5th Congressional District Congressman Vance McAllister didn’t make it to qualifying yesterday because he apparently got stuck in traffic in Baton Rouge. The Secretary of state’s office closes at 4:30. McAllister sent a text message out with a picture of him on the I-10 in Baton Rouge surrounding by traffic and joked that Governor Bobby Jindal should do something about it. He’s expected to qualify this morning at 8.

A grand jury on Thursday indicted 20-year-old Trung Le, the alleged Bourbon Street shooter, on one count of manslaughter and one count of attempted second-degree murder. Le had been charged with one count of first-degree murder and nine counts of attempted first-degree murder stemming from the June 29 shooting that took the life of 21-year-old Hammond resident Brittany Thomas, but those charges were downgraded. His lawyer contends Le fired the shots in self defense after another man aimed a handgun.

Football season is just around the corner and a week from today lots of LSU fans will be driving to Houston for the season opener against Wisconsin. David Fletcher, executive director of the Advocare Texas Kickoff, says there will be pre-game activities before the game with a Louisiana flair:
