The final day of qualifying is underway for the November 4th election. The Secretary of State’s office closes at 4:30 then Political Science professor says the campaigns will officially kick off and you’ll be seeing and hearing a lot from the candidates…:

Congressman Vance McAllister was the first to sign up today as he seeks to run again in the 5th Congressional District Race.

This time next week many LSU fans will be off to Houston to watch the Tigers take on Wisconsin next Saturday night. Advocare Texas Kickoff executive director David Fletcher says they expect a bunch of purple and gold at the game but there will also be a big group of Badger fans there too…:

A Delegation of anti-Common Core state lawmakers are headed to Oklahoma today to hear how leaders there were able to successfully repeal the education standards. Among them will be Lake Charles Rep. Brett Geymann who says they want to review the legislation that Oklahoma passed which put the state in control of standards and tests. He says Common Core is federal overreach and it needs to stop

Geymann says they plan to integrate their findings from Oklahoma into their ongoing leadership in efforts to craft sensible solutions for replacing Common Core.

Federal prosecutors say a mailman in Shreveport pleaded guilty to stealing Netflix movies he was supposed to be deliverying. They say 30-year-old Frankey Savannah faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release a $250,000 fine and restitution.
