The Houma Police Department is the latest law enforcement agency in Louisiana that will use body cameras. According to the Department of Children and Family Services the state has collected over two-million dollars in delinquent child support payments through confiscated casino winnings. The child support casino intercept program began in September 2011 and has collected unpaid child support payments from over fifteen hundred non-custodial parents at 19 state licensed casinos.

A robbery suspect in Slidell was really left holding the bag. Slidell Police say 18-year-old Terry Jones approached a woman holding her infant. Jones allegedly stuck a pistol in the woman’s chest and demanded her purse. The purse turned out to be a diaper bag. Jones then took off running, but was caught by a police officer. Jones was booked on one count of armed robbery.

The East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s office says two men were rescued after being lost in woods 5 miles east of Clinton for two days. They didn’t say why they were in the woods Friday and through the weekend unable to find their way. Apparently one of them, who is 33, became dehydrated and started hallucinating so the other friend, aged 26, went to get help. Deputies say the 26-year-old was first recovered then a search team found the dehydrated man hours later and he was taken to a hospital.

The daughter of the pastor of the First United Methodist Church in West Monroe was killed yesterday during a church trip to Lake Bruin. Thirteen year-old Sarah Grace Tellifero was shocked by a boat ladder while trying to get out of the lake. The accident is under investigation.
