The Tensas Parish Sheriff’s Department says a St. Joseph man is behind bars accused of a Sunday fatal shooting. They say 26-year-old Ettrick Polk and 19-year-old George Smith were involved in an altercation when Smith pulled a gun and shot Polk twice. Polk was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Smith was booked in the Tensas Parish Jail on charges of second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Much of the state is under a flash flood watch today and forecasters say there’s a possibility of severe storms as the result of a massive weather system that will move through Louisiana. State Climatologist Barry Keim says we’ve seen strong storm systems move through the state over the last couple of weeks, but this one has the greatest potential to produce damaging storms…

He says November is the second highest month for tornadic activity in the state.

The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles is sending out the last of three letters to notify drivers whose auto insurance lapsed at one point to pay their fines or be turned over to a collection agency. In Vitter’s latest television ad, he accuses Edwards of picking voters up from an adult night club in New Orleans on a party bus to early vote. In Edward’s response, he made a comment about Vitter’s sensitive past…

According to numbers from the Secretary of State’s office, the number of early votes for Saturday’s runoff elections was up 16 percent from the primary. Ed Cervenak, director of the UNO Survey Research Center, says based on those numbers, the electorate seems to favor Edwards…:

The Department of Revenue’s 2015 Louisiana Tax Amnesty period begins today. Over the next 30 days people have the opportunity to bring overdue taxes up to date with lessened interest charges. Governor Bobby Jindal issued an executive order Monday telling state agencies to not accept the resettlement of any more refugees of the Syrian civil war into Louisiana. The order comes after the US State Department said 14 Syrian refugees had been resettled in Louisiana so far this year. It called on State Police to “monitor and avert threats within the State of Louisiana.”

Amid rumors to the contrary, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton says defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has not been fired. Eric Gill reports…:

An executive order has been signed by Governor Bobby Jindal who wants to keep Syrian refugees from coming to Louisiana. State Police Col Mike Edmonson said today that the feds do a very poor job of communicating information about Syrian refugees who are coming into Louisiana. The state department says there are 14 currently residing in Louisiana.

According to the latest poll on Louisiana’s runoff elections Saturday, Attorney General Buddy Caldwell could be in some trouble keeping his seat. The incumbent trails fellow GOP opponent Jeff Landry by 21 points in the JMC Analytics survey. Pollster John Couvilion says Landry is advertising more and it was a bad sign for Caldwell to get just 35% in the primary…:

In the governor’s race, Democrat John Bel Edwards had 51% of the vote and Republican David Vitter had 35%. The final debate is this evening.

Even though rumors were going around all morning that the Saints had fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, Head Coach Sean Payton says not so fast. Payton said Monday morning there had been no staffing changes..yet. New Orleans lost an ugly game to Washington yesterday allowing 514 yards of total offense and NFL analyst Mike Detillier says the time has come for the Saints to let Ryan go…

In the wake of the deadly terrorist attacks on innocent people in Paris, Governor Bobby Jindal is joining several other states in issuing executive orders to keep Syrian refugees out. State Police Col Mike Edmonson says there is no indication any threat exists here with regards to Syrian refugees and he’s been in constant contact with the FBI since the Paris attacks.

The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and State Police are holding a news conference at this hour to discuss Governor Bobby Jindal’s executive order aimed at keeping Syrian refugees out of the state. Jindal says State Police has already received information that Syrian refugees are in Louisiana and they have the authority to monitor and avert all threats within the state. Governor Bobby Jindal has signed an executive order which instructs state agencies to take all available steps to stop the relocation of Syrian refugees to Louisiana. State Police Col Mike Edmonson and GOHSEP director Kevin Davis are expected to meet this afternoon to address the executive order and Syrian refugees in Louisiana.

Saints coach Sean Payton said today that defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is currently with the team and that, as of right now, no staffing changes have been made. Payton says he plans to meet with the coaches and General Manager Mickey Loomis later today about any possible moves…:

Governor Bobby Jindal has issued an executive order to stop Syrian refugees from entering into Louisiana. Jindal tweeted out a letter that he sent to President Obama saying that, in light of the tragic terrorist attacks in Paris, Louisiana should not be kept in the dark about Syrian refugees entering into our state. He says it’s irresponsible to place individuals who possibly have ties to ISIS into the state without Louisiana’s knowledge or involvement.

After Sunday’s dismal performance against the Redskins, Saints head coach Sean Payton is reportedly going to announce the firing of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. NFL analyst Mike Detillier says how the team lost to Washington, 47-14, sealed Ryan’s fate. He says a couple of factors worked against Ryan in this game…:
