Governor Bobby Jindal issued an executive order Monday telling state agencies to not accept the resettlement of any more refugees of the Syrian civil war into Louisiana. The order comes after the US State Department said 14 Syrian refugees had been resettled in Louisiana so far this year. It called on State Police to “monitor and avert threats within the State of Louisiana.”

Amid rumors to the contrary, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton says defensive coordinator Rob Ryan has not been fired. Eric Gill reports…:

Tonight’s televised debate between Democrat John Bel Edwards and Republican David Vitter is expected to be a heated one. Ed Chervenak is the director of the University of New Orleans Survey Research Center. He says polls are still showing Edwards with a double digit lead over Vitter and expects a higher hitting and tough debate…:

JMC Analytics pollster John Couvillion says they found Vitter with 35% of the vote, and Edwards with 51% while 13% say they are undecided. He says the numbers have narrowed slightly from his last poll…:

The statewide tax amnesty period kicked off today. Delinquent tax payers have 30 days to settle up with the state with lessened interest and penalties.
